translation:
yes, I could not wait,
and did not want to lose the chance to get the 20 Francs gold coin.
sometimes when you wait too long, the chance is gone

You missed out the most important part, how much did they cost?

I have been thinking of getting some olde worlde gold coins but I have no particular preference for country. I have some sovereigns already so I am looking for something else. Not sure about the French Roosters, they look nice enough but at the moment dubloons are looking to be the most interesting, though probably not the best bang for buck!

Atkinsons (UK) have some Gold Napoleon's in stock now.
States "mixed dates".
2 diierent types, one with wreath, one without.

Gold coins page 2/3 way down page :)

Ah... really nice coins no doubt!

Starting to appreciate the good ol stuff.

As I'll be headed down to Toronto in a few weeks time, any good places that offer such coins for sale?

Torcan, are you from Quebec ?
Originally yes, from Montreal
I have been in Toronto now for almost 20 years, but my heart is still in Montreal

Sorry to hear your local 'community currency' closed down, it was one of the longest running ones as far as I can tell.

Napoleon III Empereur
and 75 10&50 new franc design Hercule date 1965-1979

I wonder, shipping Israel to Canada, must have a serious %cost weight attached?
Above coins bought for the silver and like you the idea of coins having circulated centuries.
The min price they go for here is abit lower than bullion at a dealer. Not that much lower. They are more liquid on auction sites though, plenty bidders, crazy enough to bid over bullion price. It's a matter of quick reaction and bigger quantity purchases.
Most of mine were bought in my country, just a few from France based sellers in the time I dwelled ebay and the silver price was $30.

$9.90 US shipping cost, registered, so shipping was good
For me, there is an attraction to having these coins, and the possibility that Napoleon himself may have been a holder of one of them himself. History sometimes outweighs the " $" value of the coin

^^^do you have them all in a treasure chest?
I drilled holes in them (those were really boring days but a cnc machine would have been overkill) then I shoved them over a rope then I stitched that rope on a second hand gala costume from napoleon's era. I just miss his hat, appears to be hard to find second hand.
Now and then I put on the costume with a mirror and a led spotlight in front of me, I put my right hand under the left side, and then I have some minutes Thoughts that I don't wish to make public here.

My silver coins are a middlefinger to the napoleons of today.
But in order to make it more than a symbolic gesture, care about price and other costs is also needed.
