New Armenian 1oz Silver Coin

Not my cup of tea mainly because it's a bit too religious, and a bit too political, well at least the description is...

This is a new 1oz silver coins from Armenia, issued for the first time in 2011. It shows Noah's Ark in front of Mount Ararat, the national symbol of Armenia, which nowadays is part of turkish territory. The famous motif of the peace dove also shows prominently.

According to the Bible Noah's Ark stranded by mount Ararat, then still Armenian territory, due to the Deluge.

In an otherwise perfectly spelled passage, the word Turkish is deliberately written with a lowercase 't' and while I'm not a biblical scholar nor a historian, I didn't think there was an Armenian nation at the time of Noah. From memory, I thought the only people on the ark were Noah and his family (or small cohort of believers and lots and lots of animals in pairs).

Surely an allegorical story but nevertheless I found it surprising that the Armenians have no other unique identifying national symbols etc and chose something biblical.

Not sure if the description is the website owner's work or it comes from more official literature as a cut and paste, but it speaks of the small mindedness of the writer.

On a planet that is 70% covered in water and with enough water to cover the earth 2.4 km deep if all the valleys and mountains were leveled I find it very hard to find peoples dismissal of a world wide flood anything other then uninformed. (fossil sea shell on the top of mount Everest...)

Now a flood on mars, a place were no water has ever been found, a flood of biblical proportions involving a billion cubic meters of water! now that is something a sane man with excessive scientific training can believe in.... Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

It's not so much the world wide flood event - for me it's the message from a god and then the ability of an individual to collect a male and female animal of every species and fit them on a big boat and then repopulate the human race afterwards? Who did his kids have kids with?

At the end of the day I think science and religion are best left separate - any attempt at a scientific explanation of biblical stories is not going to end well.

Anyway - I think the coin looks pretty nice - I'd get one.

Was considering this as a reasonable price a few days ago for a fine silver 1oz ( despite the 20% robbery tax ) but decided to buy some more 5 oz America the Beautiful.
CoinInvestDirect has a minimum order of 500.

Would be interested to know any comments from anyone who has this new Armenian coin or the 999 silver English Rose

Ag47...Sorry my friend, the Silver Rose always seems to carry a hefty premium so I have never had anything to do with them. All I know is what's on the website.

This new Armenian coin costs slightly more than the Philharmonics and Maples (sometimes at least, as the currencies move up and down), so I think I will stick with the more 'accepted' one ouncers.
