Chanced upon this from a video posted by SalivateMetal

I only bought 2 of the 1.5 oz polar bear coins. Really nice chunky feeling to it but a pity it's so prone to milkspotting.

And from experience, would be worthwhile waiting for secondary dealers to carry them to avoid paying expensive premiums.

Nice coin... wish there was decent competition to the Perthmint... but alas RCM milk spots are not terribly tempting, but still closest there is
 
I've obtained quite a few Polar Bears and luckily they are all free of the cursed spots. They are a chunky coin and a but different to the one oz. I hope to find a seller of the Fox coin whilst spot remains low.

Beautiful coin. I like it a lot, which makes the spotting doubly annoying.

After the surprising decision to release a 1.5-ounce silver bullion coin last year, the Royal Canadian Mint has followed it for 2014 with an attractive Arctic Fox coin. Weirdly, the denomination has dropped from $8 to just $5, a minor point when dealing with $20 worth of silver, but notable regardless.

Looks like you have quoted the wrong image and specification in your website. It's 8 CAD instead of 5 CAD.
 
I looked at getting one of these from Lear Capital, shipping would be $24! Will these eventually make it out to other on line retailers?

Just a matter of time that's all.
 
Milk Spots are quite easily removed with tooth paste. Rub between fingers or in a microfibre cloth.

The Polar Bears were much more affordable in Europe than in CA/US. Hardly any premium over Maple Leafs, as low as 2%. I got a bunch, one of my larger silver positions if not the largest. Hope I will be able to source the Foxes cheaply also. Would this be turning into an Arctic series of sorts?
We're all missing out now that RCM is not doing a Wildlife Series II of sorts. Just that 25 year Maple isn't going to cut it for 2014 IMO.

I agree - P.B.'s were obtainable at good prices in Europe and I got a stash.
Amazed at the premiums in the USA despite no VAT added.
I also sourced some capsules that fit the 1.5 oz coins.

No-one is listing the Fox and with VAT in Germany rising from 7% to 19% shortly I might abandon adding silver altogether.

Where are you located?
I'd ike some of those capsules and I have intel on affordable (legal even) silver if you don't splash it all over the internet. Helps you flip silver short term. It's what I do as I live on a negative (yes, you read that correctly) purchase power to keep alive, and stacking.
 
Bump for the Silver Fox :-) I was just wondering why the premiums are so high on this, compared to the Polar Bear? Polar Bear around 30 Silver Fox around 41.50 :-(

I think it comes down to greed/smart business.
They seeded a market to WANT this series, and then changed the rules on us. From maybe 800,000 or so minted (my guess) in 2013, they will drop under 100,000 probably, and make MORE profit from it.
Not designed as bullion coin, but otherwise identical to Polar Bear. Maybe the strikes will be slightly more decent. The Polar Bears had some vertical lines in them?
 
I got a couple of Polar Bears and was also not thrilled by the higher premium on the fox. But the hook is already in and I bought a couple on eBay, waiting for them to come in now. Really like the look, size and feel of these!

Would you rate them higher quality?
I'll buy some to flip, or see if they can increase premium, but really, they are higher priced than some pretty flashy coins already. Panda's, Ruanda, close to Lunar II Horse.
 
Defintely keen to get a tube of Foxes but unwilling to pay the premium right now. Not helped by the recent rise is spot - well overdue but not desirable when in the market to buy ! Cannot win.

Win by buying something that will likely accumulate premium. Buy Foxes from the proceeds. A complicated discount scheme with gamble factor.
