Movie: Looper (silver stackers) SPOILERS

In the new Bruce Willis movie "Looper", the assassins in the film are paid in silver bars. The lead character, doesn't sell all of his silver, but stacks it in his floor safe.

Pretty cool. It is a good movie.

One of our jet ski friends Larry Rippenkroeger is actually his stunt double.

Larry is one of the International legends in the sport of Jet Ski racing and somehow ended up with the gig.

The bars have some strange "barcodes" on them and a hooker in the film is worried about taking them because the are "traceable".

Also, the "Loopers" trade the silver in for some kind of Chinese currency.

just saw this movie and found it very interesting how they used bullion and loved how the guy was stacking them.

Also interesting was the Chinese paper money, as if it was backed by gold and silver?? is this movie meant to be telling us something? =D

nice looking bars, wish i could get some.

Can't be too hard to make... sculpt the mold, fill with lead, paint!

"With the silver bars, I knew that we probably needed to have 300 of these things," Kroning said. "At the prop house, I had samples of silver bars, and I showed them to Rian. I said, 'Do you want something polished or aged?' By this time, I knew that he wanted something with more of a coarse texture to it."

To achieve that texture, Kroning avoided the usual style of prop silver and instead used a mold that had been sculpted specifically for "Looper." The bars were made of a hollowed resin and filled with either lead or steel to give them a realistic weight. Painters colored each piece of silver by hand to achieve a realistic look. "You'd be hard-pressed to say this wasn't a piece of silver," Kroning said. The special gold bars in the film, however, were actually plated with the real deal.

what are they goin on about? time travel was invented in 1985 by the Doc , think they need to get their facts straight :)

I wonder how many people would go see the movie, just because of the silver stacking. I saw the trailer for the "Silver Circle" and regardless of the message, the production value was too low for me to go see.

I watched it last night and thought the same thing about him stacking the silver :) and they also say in the movie CHINA is the place to be in the future :)

I also saw the movie last night and found it disturbing.
loved the stacks but where the movie went to was a little hard to watch

Clever thinking for a movie - payment is made from 30 years in the future where they have different paper (Chinese) money, so payment is made in silver & gold bars instead.

And the lead guy could have converted all of his stack and just hoard the cash but instead he chose to stack the physical bars.

Yeah, every 2 bars being a dead guy was a little off-putting as an image (he turned in the other 2 for cash).

Plugging the little kids was bad too, not so much in your face.

Saw this movie last night and was also pleased to see the bullion bars (of both flavours). It's actually got me thinking about picking up some 10 oz bars myself as currently I only have coins in the stack.

Are you guys watching in cinema or downloading? If anyone knows a good movie download site let me know.. the ones I have been looking at makes you install something that looks like spyware/malware before you are able to download so I didn't worry about it

There was a lot going on. I think I will see it again. That little boy should be nominated for an Academy Award. He really stole the show.
