Mexican Gold

Gold Phantom

Hi all,

Any stackers know where you can track down Mexican gold in Oz? It seems to be the forgotten gold down here...

Cheers,

GP

There's some kicking about - not a lot though, I swapped a 1/20 Libertad a few weeks ago and I think I still have a 1945 2.5 pesos - small stuff. Have seen 50 Pesos around a bit at dealers but never bought.

They're tiny! I saw one on Sunday at Boyou's joint, not a bad little coin though if you can get one - I'd want something more Aztec/Mayan themed if I was going for Mexican gold...

Ask projack he is the only guy I know w heaps of Mexican silver and gold stuff

mmm 50 pesos. would love one!

Hello gold phantom, if you've got enough dosh you could buy them from gainesville.coins if you are that keen, but you pay GST when you bring them in. Beautiful coin though. I also like the French angels, but it worries me a bit, because it's a bloke.

Thanks a lot Shiney, the initial price on Gainesville looks good but I have to say the $75 shipping + GST scares me a bit...Heading to the States later this year, might pick up a few coins. Anyone have any idea how much gold you can bring back with you through customs?

I have one 1945 dos peso (1.6g gold) and one 2004/6 Libertad (1/20 oz gold) you can have for $175 inc postage? both very fine

Less than $1000 rings a bell somewhere in my head before you have to pay GST. Had a quick search in older posts but couldn't see anything definitive - maybe someone else knows which post discusses this issue.
