Shortages of health care,medication and essential services Aus owned assets sold off so we no longer own them and pay higher prices on domestic products then those overseas. A caveman type commodity driven economy where we've given up 90% of manufacturing and keeping profits in country and majority of our big corporations-banks,miners,supermarkets where foreign investors own more then aussies our shortsighted self serving pollies have sold us off like a cheap whore...and we get no satisfaction just ongoing increases in every necessary service and expense. "Leaders" are terrible businessmen only lining their own pockets successively then moving onto tax free pensions and even more lucrative positions while the masses most of us get left with the scraps and for many its getting harder and harder. I know been many worse times but this bad as i've seen it in my lil piece of time here. They hold the seats, the power and the inequality balance of wealth...ill gained and at OUR expense. Almost got my lil escape outta paying thru the nose a tiny moveable house with my own power best can do for now. Know complaining doesnt do shit need more work and income but harder then ever to get ahead. CheersIt's not really falsely propping up GDP, it's a genuine driver, just as credit growth, productivity improvements, technological and demographic change are. The problem with record high immigration goes economically though is that unless supply can meet demand you just end up with inflationary pressures which create cost of living pressures that keeping the cash rate above 4% will not solve. The cash rate should be 0% and lowering the tax rate and increasing the deficit through intelligent public sector spending are the only solutions that would raise living standards and create a fairer system for all - not just the super wealthy boomers/corporations.
But yes, successive governments have mismanaged just about everything so your rant is perfectly justified.
