Ivory Coast Lion Big Five 5oz

Kinda pricey, and only buy it if you like the design.

Plenty other coins that have higher appreciation potential I think.

It's a very nice looking coin...I like the design, theme, and high relief.

It's not too expensive....don't listen to those who make such a ridiculous claim. That's because almost universally, those who claim such a thing are comparing it to a flat disc, common, plain, generic 1 oz blob which would have no added value (premium) whatsoever.

The only way one could honestly claim it is "too expensive" is if it were being compared to the same or a very similar product....other than that, "too expensive" is meaningless.

Now, if you are interested only in potential for appreciation, that's a bit more complex a question....one which no one has the definitive answer for at this time....only speculation exists as to whether this coin will appreciate.

Stackers have gotten the question of appreciation in value wrong countless times. Only in hindsight can we know for certain what will and won't appreciate significantly enough to say it was well worth its purchase.

I would go with the advice SammySilver suggests....if you like it, buy it.....it's not like aesthetics and our enjoyment of owning something we like has no value....it does.

I can think of a billion ways to spend your money less wisely than buying a cool looking, high relief silver coin. And if you like high relief silver, check out some of the threads in the Modern Chinese Coins & Medallions section to get inspired and wowed.

high price from the get go, small mint = not investment material = price will very likely fall if anything over time

It is very nice though.
