Hi everyone.

I found this in an antique shop and was wondering if anyone can tell me if it is sterling. Don't want to buy it if it is only plated silver. Thanks in advance.

That's "electroplated" and that's what the first two letters E & P stand for.

Electroplating uses tiny amounts of silver , the layer is extremely thin. So unless you want the item for what it is not its metal content steer clear.

So is it a C or E? Hoping the eyesight is still good. If not, I'll blame the small image on the phone instead :D

Beware though - anyone can put '925' on something if its only sterling plated and always remember silver is a color as well.

Customer: "Is this silver/gold?"

Dishonest or ignorant sales assistant: "Yes"

No hallmarks = cant be 100% sure
