is it a difficult job to buy off usa e bay if im in the united kingdom, what happens with the paypal does it switch it to $ from im seeing some good deaLs on mcm metals on their auction items do I run a risk of parcel being lost

You can buy from US ebay, they're just a medium of advertising. But shipping and other terms are 100% dependent on the seller. It will vary for each seller on ebay.
 
You can use your UK eBay account to purchase worldwide.

You will very likely get stung for import charges, so 20% of value plus 8.

PayPal will sting you on the exchange rate and foreign currency fees, you would be better doing bank transfer via CurrencyFair.

I have purchased from the US a number of times, never had a package lost.
