He has got the means to build his home to his specifications; I'd bet he didn't become financially independent (assuming he didn't inherit the whole bundle but built a mega business or was a very sharp investor) caring what other people thought of his dress sense.

The people who succeed almost always go against the grain of conventional thinking and behaving.

I wouldn't mind learning from him what he knows about running successful businesses.
