I collect these coins from the Southern Trade Countries. Most I can get for spot plus a small premium. They are still hoarded by Italians and others in the EU. Especially the Swiss 20Franc. Many countries minted this coin in various forms, but all contain 0.1867 Toz of Gold. A good place to check for a relative price is: https://www.ngccoin.com/ Just use the search function on the top right corner & you will see a list. The one of interest will give you the melt values, in USD, total AGW & prices for top condition coins. Hope this helps. Cheers John
Yes, current melt value 310-320. Expect to pay 340-370 or more depending on where and which Country Coin. Excellent article on the LMU (Latin Monetary Union) on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_Monetary_Union
I almost ended up buying some of these recently, but then I found a Mexican 20 peso coin and had to have it. One of, if not the most, beautifully and most intricately stamped coins I've ever seen
