Hmm not sure if a thread has been started on this.

I'll be heading down to the Singapore Coin Fair organised by PandaAmerica. Probably one of the two coin fairs worth visiting in Singapore.

Just wondering what exactly do you guys look out for when visiting coin fairs in general?

I'm starting to develop an itch for old gold coins, especially those closer to an oz in size. What's a good price to pay for such old gold coins and how do you judge its value?

Yes. I intend to take pics and videos of the coin fair.

Apparently Jim Rogers was there yesterday to sweep all the North Korean coins (again!).
 
If anything...go on the very first day to grab all the goodies...and comeback on the closing day to see any dealers doing fire sale.
 
Took some pictures. Saw some coins that I was interested in but were all sold out.

IMO Coin fairs (just like swap meets) are only good if you're after a specific coin that you're prepared to pay good money for (like to complete a collection).

I've NEVER seen a bargain. Even the clearance sales at the end are only reduced to what you would call "regular" pricing.

Unless you like noodling through the big box of junk coins hoping to get a rare medallion or something like that.

I pretty much turn up, head to the table selling albums, capsules and any other bulky heavy items, load up on them because I am too cheap to pay for postage, have a quick look around, mostly just to get an idea of what mine would be worth if I tried to sell them, approach a couple of bank note dealers and try and flog them some banknotes, they just take your number in case anything comes up, grab a coffee and go.

Pretty much stopped attending them now, they still think that $20 for a Zimbabwe 100 Trillion Dollar note is a fair price and I can still get them online for $5.

Yep .... Jim was there. Got to meet him. He was in a rush. He did go straight from m to the Korean Coins though.

Thought nothing of it at the time. Curious.
