thermarests, rain gear, stanfields, headlamps, fold up pillows and a tent with 2 poles and aluminum fiberglass gives you slivers and they break. bought a decent kelty tent on sale for 130 about 5 years ago. stays dry through a week of rain and can set up and take down in 5 mins or less. Trail mix and smoked salmon are also great snacks to bring along. Also a good sealine marine backpack is essential for remote surf/camp trips.

Thing with cast iron, they are heavy, if you drop it on a rock they'll crack.
These spun steel ones are tough and light.... which lets face it.... after a few around the fire... coordination isn't the specialty..... I have found no issues with heat distribution, and have cooked on both.
I have used it with the raised grate, and without, i don't really bother with the grate anymore..... cooked many a stew in em....
Now they do rust really quick, so make sure you season it well.... basically get a fire real hot (or hey use the gas stove).... spray the oven inside with oil and let it smoke. once you do that... then all i do is wash it with water, no soap.
The best way to wash up a camp oven is... 1) start fire, 2) cook ya meal, 3) remove the meal from over, rinse with water and put straight back on the hot fire. all moisture is removed and remaining fats re-season the stove.
Easy as pie.
the lid can also be used as a hot plate.... bacon & eggs etc.
a great contraption that handles been tossed around violently.
What to avoid:
Leatherman Juice CS4 pocket knives - the springs have fallen out of both, first one replaced about 6 months ago (it was about 5 - 7 years old), replacement fell apart last week. I've sent it back to the distributor asking for a different model (Skeletool) instead of a Juice. I don't want my money back because the initial purchase was made when the AUD was worth about 70 cents and I don't have the receipt.

LOL be careful with cheap panels you may find when you need em they don't work, speaking from experience. I bought what was supposed to be a good brand & paid more than $100 bucks, in the end was cheaper to get a local guy to re-do the dodgy soldering that didn't appreciate movement on this "portable" panel then return it for replacement etc.
This powerpot isn't meant to run a fridge just thought it would be a good backup to charge GPS, mobiles & the like just in case.

I like it, solar is no good without sunshine is it and a back up is always good to have on hand. Rigid solar is rapidly becoming obsolete for the camping type. I love this thing, check out the size of it when folded, the vid is a bit nerdy but a couple or three of these would be real handy and save a bunch of space and weight .

Cree torches or similar, anyone got one ? I got an 8,000 lumen 7x cree LED off feebay (Ultrafire) and it could cook a cassowary at 100 mt's. These LED's are totally FKN awesome, so bright they literally turn night into day for a good fifty metres.
If you haven't got one check them out, cree led's are the absolute ducks nuts of torches.

Have had Fenix lights for a few years with no complaints, always been tempted to try one of their multi-LED lights.
