Australian Customs and Gold Jewelry

Anybody know what the the Australian Customs position regarding gold jewelry that is worn on passenger at point of entry?
 
A mate of mine travels the world with 2 gold chains worth 50k+ easy and at least 10-15k in rings and bracelet.
Never had an issues
I've sold him half of what he wears.
Been his everyday atire for 40 odd years.
