United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist Justin Kunz has created a modern depiction of Liberty for the obverse (heads side), evoking the ideals of liberty, courage and hope.

Coin will go on sale @ the US Mint at 12:00 pm est.. Price will be $1490.00 ( with today's drop in gold ). It brought the coin down by $50.. Congrats to all who pick up 1.
 
 
Reasons i'm not to excited about this piece....

1. Not proof.....
2. Not U-L-T-R-A High relief....
3. Cheap mint case its put into... Not solid wood like the beautiful 24k buffalo...
4. 50k is a very high mintage for a $1490.00 "medal" for today's gold prices... ( $400.00 premium )....
5. The metal looks like a "cartoon" piece....
6. I'll pass.....
 
At least the design has a female looking face unlike many of the other coins that have given a decidedly manly look to the head... I'm looking at you Libertad and AGE
 
This predictably is a popular coin with collectors. I don't know how long it's been on "back order" because I was out most of the afternoon and evening but at 12:00 noon right on the dot on Thursday East Coast USA time this coin was available for purchase.

I'm guessing that in about 12 hours time the US Mint will release a statement regarding the rapid sale of this coin.
