Baron, Thank you for the heads up. I pre-ordered 20 from APMEX yesterday when they were announced. The price is making me very happy, those couldn't have hit at a better time, spot price wise.
I have heard good things and bad things about the 2017, 50th anniversary silver Krugerrand and looking at what they are selling for, you love them and are willing to pay the high premium to have them or you don't and pass. So the 2017 mintage is not part of this discussion.
Late last year I...
How do you pre-grade a coin to decide if it's worth sending off to be professionally graded?
Are there any websites with photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph under each on to be used as evidence to help a noob pre-grade their coinage?
I am still in the "oooohhh shiny" stage...
I have a spread sheet and have the numismatics listed as current spot value and what I paid for it. I can't keep track of current market value but at least if/when the time comes to sell I can at least see what I spent on it. But that goes with the bullion too. I probably have too much...
Of Silver... well, a little more actually.
So my first goal of obtaining 100 oz of Silver was achieved and like all noob stackers it's an unfocused mix of a lot of different things.
Rounds and Coins: 46 oz - 1 oz Rounds, and Coins from various government and private mints
Bars: 8 oz - Generic...
That is good advice as well, 186 oz doesn't seem like a lot but very doable. I have been reading about having some gold just to keep some diversification in my stack, and yea, I gotta thing for platinum. Love that metal so I am collecting it just because.
That is a very good question! I don't know, I assume that my pay will increase as it has in the past though it never will keep up with inflation, I just keep buying at the 70/20/10 ratio even if that 70% is only $50.
If silver hits $25 spot then I would, start selling a portion of the stack in...
As a new Stacker I keep hearing that I should set goals early to help guide my purchasing decisions. Right now my long term goal is to have money when I retire to supplement what paltry retirement and social security I should get (this is not a discussion about that). My short term goals are to...
I can't see a round being easier to stack than a bar. I would think coins and rounds would be more popular therefore more expensive due to demand with the Numismatic crowd.
The postage was worth the Eagles I'll buy with the extra I paid "over spot". The two combibars total 6.44 oz of silver, with the return I am buying 10 silver eagles. I get free postage for both sales and the return was only $10.12, roughly half the cost of an ASE. Worth it I think.
I don't know about buying a Palladium Eagle but one day I hope to own a Platinum Eagle. I know Platinum and Palladium are not as popular with stackers but I just love Platinum so have included small amounts in my stack.
Why are rounds cheaper than bars if they both weigh the same? I just bought 20 - 1oz rounds because they were $1.99 each less than the 1 oz secondary market bar. Ounce for ounce I'd rather stack bars than rounds but I can't pass up that kind of deal.
I was introduced by playing a game and won 5 ASEs. I had no clue what they were and sat in my safe for about 6 months. I was introduced to another game and won a 1/10 oz gold round, then (10) 1 oz silver bullets. I started gaming more and winning some but losing more so I started reading up on...
Well I bought two, a 100 x 1g and a 10 x 10g "CombiBar" and it took me longer to open the box than it did to decide to return them. At almost double spot they are not worth it I'll get ASEs and 1 oz Bars with the refund.
