Frank Franzetta - Death Dealer coin (1oz and 5oz) 2015

I think I would have preferred this in colour. What's cool about Frazetta's original piece is the lighting and deliberate absence of detail in parts of the shadowy figure. All of which is lost in the metal interpretation.

    Stinky display box

Was it super polished/lacquered? That stuff is really potent. Or perhaps it was the glue used inside? In any case, airing it out should work. Manufacturers usually do this, but perhaps if time was short they didn't air it out for as long as they needed to.

    goverment backed bullion

I think there are a lot of other less obvious reasons why people still prefer legal tender products. The legal tender, the country/ government of issue, the mints - all have certain intangible feelings associated with them that generic rounds or their producers might be lacking. Eg/ A positive...

    Freedom Girl: Imposters

The thinking that copyright ownership is automatically granted to the client is a problem for many artists. That is why it is important for both parties to have a contract in place which stipulates which rights are assigned to the client. Generally for artistic works, the client pays for a...

    Perth Sept Release

I have to say this coin is really beautiful in person, the photos and renderings don't do it justice. I thought it would sell faster than it has.

That was quick: 1oz Perth Mint Goats $1.96 in bulk lots of 100 (China)

Regarding the quality, the images are not any indication of the quality you will receive. It's quite common on Alibaba/AliExpress for manufacturers to take photographs of other manufacturers' products to show what they "can" do and then deliver something inferior. There are a lot of...

Glad those of you who knew the reference appreciated the joke :) Although I secretly wish some mint would take the idea and make a medallion. Tortuga's head would make a great obverse effigy! ;) *Edited to remove spoiler!

how about this for a coin?

Wow the technique and work that has gone into that coin is really impressive. Not to discredit what they have achieved here, but I feel like coins are getting to a point where mints will create anything to be novel and different... we have them in many shapes (round, rectangle, triangle...

Anyone else waiting up for the perth mint release?

The three-headed dragon is a commissioned product by Coin Club Australia. I believe they retain a decent allocation of this series so hopefully it should be available at http://www.coinclub.com.au/ for a while longer. Prices do shoot up once the primary market starts to sell out though.
