    1 oz 1988 Platinum Panda

What would be a fair market value for a raw 1988 1 oz Platinum panda? I've got the opportunity to buy one. It weighs out ok, diameter is good, and looks good under the loupe. My coin guy says there is a coin show coming up where we can get it verified.

Ever looked at the exchange rate you're charged from overseas ATMs?

I was in Australia for a month withdrawing from a NZ bank acct and noticed the amounts withdrawn (before the 2.5% fee that I was aware of before travelling) was not close to the exchange rate for that day. It was easy to differentiate between the base amount and the fee since they would show up...

Lunar Monkey 1/2 oz at ABC in Sydney

So I walk into Aus. Bullion Co down in Sydney and ask to see their random selection of stuff they buy off customers. They had two 1/2 oz Monkeys for $26 per coin. One was not in the capsule so I decided I'd probably let that one go, and the other had a capsule in good condition. As the lady was...

early '90's single kooks and early 2000's koalas

I stopped by Roxbury's gold exchange place at 290 Boundary street in Brisbane and saw some single oz kooks koalas and some roo's for $42. I didn't pick any up (got a 2009 1/2 oz koala for $21 though). I know that's high for some stuff but I didn't know enough to decide whether that was good...

Has Airport security ever called a 10oz bar a weapon?

I have indeed met someone who was asked to check his kilo bar flying within New Zealand - I suppose because it could be used to bludgeon someone to death  . But that made me wonder, how silly will they get? So if you have ever had trouble at airport security with multi-ounce piece of...
