    Pi Coin. Any followers?

Been waiting years for this coin to actually have any real world value and be tradable on exchanges. I’m not holding out hope for this to happen anytime soon. Their mining app is just a way for them to sell ads every time you renew your mining session. Has all the hallmarks of a completely...

    Fake 1938 Crown from ebay

Plenty of fakes about unfortunately. If they did a switcharoo and sent you a fake one but the listing showed a legit one then that’s definitely poor form. Send it back for a refund and leave negative feedback, that’s probably the best you can hope for

Coins that were equivalent in weight and specs at the Gold Sovereign

Added a few more to the list in the original post. lots of interesting pieces from the Numista search. Quite a few coins from the search results were excluded from the list, being a smidge under or over the sovereign's 0.2354oz AGW content. Eye opening how many coins are basically the same as...

Coins that were equivalent in weight and specs at the Gold Sovereign

Thanks for this, didn’t know you can search Numista like this, there were some interesting hits in there that seemed to match the gold sovereigns specs.

Coins that were equivalent in weight and specs at the Gold Sovereign

Hi all, is there a definitive list of all the gold coins that mimic the gold composition as the gold sovereign? There's a few that I'm aware of, and was wondering if anyone has compiled such a list and attempted to collect them all? South Africa Republic Pond - Kruger Pond...

    The rarest full gold sovereigns

A couple of years ago I was also umming and ahhing over whether to pick up an 1880-S shield reverse, inverted A for V in Victoria. It was in decent condition, but had a nick on the effigy's cheek which ultimately made me decide against picking it up. Asking price was maybe only a couple of...

    The rarest full gold sovereigns

1899-P is also marked as R in the Jubilee and Revised Editions of Marsh, though probably not as super rare as those others listed R2 - R7 in Marsh

$200 gold coins now worth over $1000 melt

meanwhile sovereigns are now also over $800 melt value. at least there's still interest in them around the 800-830 range, from my own observations.

$200 gold coins now worth over $1000 melt

It is a shame they’re so hard to move on. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve seen offered under spot and yet no one wants them

    Precious metals demand

Sovs at spot? Wow, where? I’d be all over these at spot Residential real estate with land is still holding up in Melbourne. I read the other day the premium of houses with land vs units and apartments with minimal to no land is widening. I also suspect some goldbugs have turned to BTC and...

Gold Sovereign Brass Scales Saves The Day!

You only get your money back once the return postage tracking shows it's been delivered back to the seller. What they do with it after that is up to them so yes, there could unfortunately be another victim who buys the next time they list it.

Gold Sovereign Brass Scales Saves The Day!

I'm happy to take that risk, I've picked up quite a few bargains on eBay. There's buyer protection and even when there is a dispute in the resolution process, eBay almost always sides with the buyer. I can test my purchases with these brass scales and it's pretty easy to spot the blatant con...

Gold Sovereign Brass Scales Saves The Day!

I've seen the Fisch in action as well and they work very well. In fact the first time I saw it in action it also weeded out a suspect sovereign.

Gold Sovereign Brass Scales Saves The Day!

This was a few weeks ago now, an eBay purchase of a 1900 gold sovereign that didn't feel right. The coin was ever so slightly larger in diameter but the strike and the details on the coin looked pretty legit. The weight was pretty much spot on too, so simply measuring the weight would not have...
