The whole thing is a media / politics circle jerk. They will run around screaming about a "crisis" then just vote to raise the debt ceiling at the last minute anyway. Then shares will pump and a few days later fall back down. Then later there will be a new "crisis". And round and round we go...

IMO, buying Silver is placing a bet that the markets and economics of the Western world are plagued with fraud and destructive short-sightedness. If you examine the last decade or so it seems like a pretty great bet to me.
