Does buying physical silver bullion mean you are investing?

Time frame not required, but used in my example. Not prohibited. If I said my evil twin expected his money to double in 20 or 30 years, probably not speculation, just normal. We would have to increase the factor of payout, like to ten fold. That would be speculation. Payout is directly...

Does buying physical silver bullion mean you are investing?

There is no guarantee for anything. Doesn't bother me. Take tomorrow for example. I've go no guarantee tomorrow will ever happen. The likelihood of some things are so likely, that it is not only reasonable to expect them, it is unreasonable to not expect them. Nothing unreasonable of me...

Does buying physical silver bullion mean you are investing?

It seems I may already have a convert. Will anyone disagree with this: I put $50k into the stock market, via mutual funds, and say that I plan on that money increasing in value beyond inflation so that it gives me financial profit for my old age, and in a couple of decades I will take it out...

Does buying physical silver bullion mean you are investing?

Analogies are imperfect forms of argument, best used to not convince, but to give a similar example. It does not follow that what is true for the ponies must be true for silver, based on my argument. It should be obvious that wagers on the ponies are short term, very short. Buying into silver...

    Will Shops trade Silver?

Legal tender for ASE is $1. Giving $20 worth of goods for an ASE would be like giving $20 in goods for a George Washington $1. Yeah, they have to accept your $1 ASE, just like any other $1. Silver is not magic. There are many collectable pennies circulating, worth many dollars, to a collector...

Does buying physical silver bullion mean you are investing?

Market manipulation - if it exists - if no reason to avoid participation. It is simply another factor to consider. After all, they would be conspiring to improve their own standing, not to cause me to lose. There is no scenario where they profit, and everyone else loses. Sports of various...

How much silver do you guy's have?

If it is paranoia.......it is not only on this forum, but in the world of PM stacking, on the internet and off. I've seen a lot of examples in my live - face to face - contacts, friends and co-workers. And more importantly, it is not paranoia if they are out to get you. I will admit there is...

Easy buying in Ebay from Europe is over, pity

Ebay bought paypal. One and the same now. As an ebay seller (not silver), I can tell you I absorbed ebay and paypal fees, not the buyers. If you think your local brick and mortar shop, or internet dealer does not have 13% overhead, passed on to the buyer very directly, as well as shipping...

Hanging up on ASE's in exchange for America The Beautiful's

Easy to avoid 1099 and tax reporting. I do nothing, and that takes care of it, ATBs and all others. Now if you are buying over $10k at a clip, might be problems. A smart fellow can figure out how to avoid that. Given the limited issue of ATB, the premium is no more disagreeable than ASE, and...

Yes, Pirocco, we don't find time, we make it.

Hanging up on ASE's in exchange for America The Beautiful's

Only down side, selling off the ASEs in the future will be very easy. The ATBs, not so easy. I agree, I'd rather have four (of the same) mint issued ATBs, than a tube of bullion ASEs. About $100 more, but worth it. Not all 20 ounces of silver are created equal.

Is anyone excited about Mulligan Mints original coins/designs?

You don't like the 'supply and demand' theory? Collectors want one - one of each. If I have 10000 of a 'good one', I need 10000 buyers. If I have 100 of 100, I need 100 buyers, if they have enough money of course. I certainly do not need 10000 buyers. For value, there are of course factors...

    Premiums and Expectations

It is human nature to want to belong to groups, have common interests with others. If someone buys one coin, they think is special, it makes them feel good about themselves, and their purchase, if others agree, and buy the same coin. So Joe Blow gets on all the chat boards to tell anyone who...

Is anyone excited about Mulligan Mints original coins/designs?

There has to be innovation for success. Remilking is a dead end, I agree. There was a time, in the USA, and if you didn't wear a plain white T-shirt, you didn't wear a T-shirt. Then someone put a message, logo, slogan on a T-shirt, and every changed. Who would have guessed. When were the first...

    Premiums and Expectations

Such things as 'hype from fellow....' are often fabricated, on the net in general, and often by the time this is realized it is too late. Being a long standing member of relevant forums, getting a feel for the personality and dependability of posters providing hype, is a safeguard. Know your...

Is anyone excited about Mulligan Mints original coins/designs?

Yes, but the SBSS/MM Freedom Girls I have seen are high premium. I'd rather get current issue proof SS Freedom compared to bullion SBSS/MM Freedom - and last I did a price comparison that is what I saw. A lot of 'stackers', or collectors, want a complete set of one each, and willing to pay high...

Kip is well versed on such things, any change of spelling was intentional, I am confident. The reason - no idea. Just his style, possibly.

Does buying physical silver bullion mean you are investing?

Standard meaning says it is expected to increase wealth, not merely preserve. Definition of 'Investment' An asset or item that is purchased with the hope that it will generate income or appreciate in the future. In an economic sense, an investment is the purchase of goods that are not...

    2008 all over again?

Sunshine rounds now 30 cents over spot, at SGB, weeklong sale. Cheapest premium I've seen from a regular bullion dealer, when spot is - very low, relative to the previous many months. For those from the future, spot is currently $19.07.

    Premiums and Expectations

A good generalization in the world of collecting is that hype is for non performers, and the big earners are sleepers, until they take off. A good example is the Zombucks Walker - coins for the apocalypse - but rounds by most standards. Issued for 90 days (about 40,000), at about $3 over spot...
