The Mint needs to release a statement saying that they won't re-mint any numismatic coins after the year of issue. Otherwise they could re-mint absolutely every coin they ever released that has not reached their mintage limit and by doing so digging their own grave of their numismatic branch...

What would you say are the kilo proof coins worth? Mouse, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon? I hardly ever see them available anywhere.

Grading only makes sense if you don't have the certificate and want to sell them individually. I personally would only buy them ungraded in the original red box. By grading them you ruin the set in my opinion.

Most of the commissioned coins can be bought at the mint, all the Downies coins, the Coinclub coins etc. They sell a few and the majority goes to the one who ordered them. Sometimes the other dealers get an allocation as well. That's why I was asking, how many were available at the mint and...

How many of these sets did the Perth Mint sell on their website? How fast did they sell out? I don't see them available on any of the Australian dealer websites. Only silver-corner has them and they don't seem to sell well there at all. It's very strange.

They have previously stated on their website that some of the coins are sold out (for example mouse and ox silver proof variants) only to later sell them again. They are now listed as unavailable and the Perth Mint has given a clear indication that they will remint them up to the minage limit...

I think we should start a class action against the Perth Mint. Any lawyers here?

Interesting how "Year of the snake" in Russian is "Year of the snake", "coins" in German is "coins" and "sold out" in some other languages is "sold out". The must have some well paid linguists working over at the mint...

A while ago there was a discussion on the Perth Mint Blog reagarding the re-availability of the Ox proof coins. IIRC the spokesperson from the mint clearly confirmed the difference between sold out and unavailable and that the old proof sets are sold out and won't be reminted.

I have one in perfect condition. If anyone is interested, I could offer it in the sales thread.

That's how they always do it, mintage is restricted by set. For example for the coloured coins, the Chinese 9-coin set has a mintage of 20000, then there is another Chinese set with a mintage of 5000, now the Australian ten-coin set with 2500 mintage. If they want, they can just as well issue...
