    Kilo proof coins

I don't agree with this. If they have the coins and they continuously keep selling them on their website, then I have no problems with it. They do that with most of the lunar gold proof coins. But once they are gone from their website and marked as unavailable or sold out and the year has...

Thanks holdfast, under 2k is quite good for the tiger, quite surprising actually.

    Kilo proof coins

The Mint needs to release a statement saying that they won't re-mint any numismatic coins after the year of issue. Otherwise they could re-mint absolutely every coin they ever released that has not reached their mintage limit and by doing so digging their own grave of their numismatic branch...

    Kilo proof coins

You know, previously when I saw that an older coin has low mintage I thought, wow, that will be a valuable collectable item, I want that. Now when I see it, I get very upset and think hands off this coin. Once the mint starts reminting it, it will lose all its value. Why bother collecting...

    Kilo proof coins

Tiger, Rabbit and Dragon are sold out at 500, while only 137 Mouse and 143 Ox kilo proofs have been sold. This is similar for the three coin sets where mouse and ox are the most valuable: www.ebay.com.au/itm/2008-Lunar-Year-of-Mouse-Silver-Proof-Coin-3-Coin-Set-3-5oz-Only-365-Mintage-/261125963041

What would you say are the kilo proof coins worth? Mouse, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon? I hardly ever see them available anywhere.

2000 5 coin silver Dragon proof set

Grading only makes sense if you don't have the certificate and want to sell them individually. I personally would only buy them ungraded in the original red box. By grading them you ruin the set in my opinion.

Australian Lunar Series II - 2oz Silver Proof Twelve-Coin Collection

Most of the commissioned coins can be bought at the mint, all the Downies coins, the Coinclub coins etc. They sell a few and the majority goes to the one who ordered them. Sometimes the other dealers get an allocation as well. That's why I was asking, how many were available at the mint and...

Australian Lunar Series II - 2oz Silver Proof Twelve-Coin Collection

How many of these sets did the Perth Mint sell on their website? How fast did they sell out? I don't see them available on any of the Australian dealer websites. Only silver-corner has them and they don't seem to sell well there at all. It's very strange.

Australian Lunar Series II - 2oz Silver Proof Twelve-Coin Collection

They have previously stated on their website that some of the coins are sold out (for example mouse and ox silver proof variants) only to later sell them again. They are now listed as unavailable and the Perth Mint has given a clear indication that they will remint them up to the minage limit...

I think we should start a class action against the Perth Mint. Any lawyers here?

    Snakes getting cheaper

Interesting how "Year of the snake" in Russian is "Year of the snake", "coins" in German is "coins" and "sold out" in some other languages is "sold out". The must have some well paid linguists working over at the mint...

Australian Lunar Series II - 2oz Silver Proof Twelve-Coin Collection

A while ago there was a discussion on the Perth Mint Blog reagarding the re-availability of the Ox proof coins. IIRC the spokesperson from the mint clearly confirmed the difference between sold out and unavailable and that the old proof sets are sold out and won't be reminted.

I have one in perfect condition. If anyone is interested, I could offer it in the sales thread.

    Perth Mint late night again?

That's how they always do it, mintage is restricted by set. For example for the coloured coins, the Chinese 9-coin set has a mintage of 20000, then there is another Chinese set with a mintage of 5000, now the Australian ten-coin set with 2500 mintage. If they want, they can just as well issue...
