    Avoiding Perth Mint direct

Wouldn't the weight being shown as 1001.002 make it easier to quickly work out that it's over 1kg?

    Avoiding Perth Mint direct

It might just be people not wanting to drop their prices with the spot price but it seems people are wanting more for PM 10oz bars than it would cost to get them directly from Perth Mint? At $21 over spot their last price was $292, so even with postage + insurance a couple of these would set...

How many here try staying under $5000 order limits

Your capital was the $300 you used to purchase the gold. You sell it and you now have $1500 capital, a $1200 capital gain. While it's not an actual gain as we see it, the govt and all laws (taxes and penalties) work in AUD not XAU or XAG and they want their cut.

How many here try staying under $5000 order limits

In the case of ebay handing over seller details I believe it's the turnover they were interested in as anyone with turnover greater than $75k is required to register for GST, becoming a tax collector for the ATO. While your profit may be minimal with a $75k turnover it could take a decent hit if...

cheapest 1 and 1/2oz coins/rounds/bars in or delivered to AU

Just wondering which form is the cheapest and where to get it if you're buying from AU? Outside of a group buy is there any way to get 1/2oz coins/rounds? Do they even make 1/2oz bars? I'm just curious mostly, thinking a few 1/2oz rounds might make trading/bartering a bit easier (kind of the...

    Setting up a SMSF w/Corporate Trustee 101

Any idea on the ongoing costs associated with setting it up yourself? I know there's an annual fee for the trustee company, and $180 for ATO but what about audits etc?

Is it actually possible to buy at or close to spot anymore?

PM has 10oz bars at 338.30 when spot is 31.46 (338.30-314.60=23.70) so $2.37 (7.5%) over spot. It goes up of course when you include their shipping + insurance but so will anything unless you buy F2F. EDIT: I should have just used their listed spot price, it's $2.10/oz for 10oz bars.

    borrowing for property with esuperfund

I was about to sign up for esuperfund and thought I should read their terms & conditions. It says you can only borrow from St George for Residential property, Westpac for commercial and can only do any trading of shares etc through commsec or ebroking. The share trading doesn't worry me much as...

    PM instead of insurance?

I didn't mean to suggest that I was just going to skip insurance, put the annual fees on the melbourne cup each year and hope the public system looks after everything for me. I meant putting the money aside in PM (or something else?) so it's there if it's needed. I have access to money in the...

    Gold Stacker's Silver unallocated program

I had a second look before I posted that but obviously skimmed over it. I don't see any sell-back price or a heading explaining how it works when you want to sell back to GS.

    PM instead of insurance?

If I end up at the emergency dept I pay nothing, if I go anywhere as a private patient i get shafted. My son had his skull cut open at 3 months old because it fused early and we paid nothing (technically that was cosmetic surgery too). I'm not sure what medical issue would have to occur where I...

Does this program allow for selling back to Gold Stackers? If not is it a planned addition?

    PM instead of insurance?

I forgot to mention, the insurance cover only covers some of the expenses anyway. Today my Wife ordered new prescription glasses (clear and sunglasses) and with $190 back from health insurance it still cost me over $500 from pocket.

    PM instead of insurance?

I'm a bit over paying my health insurance every month and getting nothing for it, and for a while I have been thinking about just putting it on the mortgage and then paying out when it's needed anyway. Has anyone else thought about buying PM with the money and holding that as your insurance? I...

    How did I get here?

I should probably post a hello as I've been reading the forums for a week or so and picked up my first piece of silver today after ordering some others over the weekend. I'm not sure I'll post a lot unless it's in the trading forums because I'll be busy reading everything else. I just realised...

    My first bit of shiny

Although I wasn't too interested in the proof coins, I checked my local PO and found a coloured 1/2oz lunar dragon proof and when I found they had sold out decided to buy it. Very shiny, and even the Mrs said it was cool. The kids wanted to touch it too much. I remember having a big box of...
