    GSR turning around soon?

I don't think the GSR is a valid or useful statistic for valuing either metal. What is the angle supposed to be? Does it help predict anything? Are there any experts or traders here who can comment on whether it's used in finance or the exchanges? I guess one test would be to model it and see...

Are retail silver supplies drying up?

Ah, I've seen those. I didn't know they were called PMV. I've been confused by what method they're using – is it XRF?

    Short term Gold/Silver Thoughts

In the next few months I don't expect to see much net movement. Look at the 2008 crisis as an example. If I recall correctly it took more than a few months for silver to climb some. It took a couple of years for silver to really get going, and then it crashed... We've been in the mostly under...

    Canada Silver Maple Leafs

In my premiums spreadsheet it looks like Maples go for about the same as Britannias and Kangaroos, and definitely cost more than rounds. In normal times the premiums for Maples are 12 - 16%, whereas Sunshine Minting rounds go for 6 - 12% over spot. They all go for less than Eagles in the US. The...

Silver spot is down but no change in premiums

It's supply and demand. There's been a sudden explosion of demand, and now a supply crunch. It's a terrible time to buy retail physical silver. You'll lose money due to the inflated premiums. I'd go with ETFs and vaulted outfits. Soon there won't be any retail available since mints keep...

Updated spreadsheet of dealer inventory, prices, and premiums

I don't see a way to edit my post. Maybe you can only edit during a brief window? Anyway I wanted to add the following: Note that the usual purpose of this spreadsheet is simply to compare dealer premiums. This is not a minute-to-minute snapshot, because relative premiums are fairly stable over...

I'm not sure what that attachment is. It's apparently a gif image file, but I didn't attach any files to my post...

Updated spreadsheet of dealer inventory, prices, and premiums

Comparegoldandsilver.com is a dead link. Comparesilverprices.com doesn't have anywhere near the range of my spreadsheet, e.g. Kangaroos, Britannias, Queen's Beasts, Sunshine Mint, Scottsdale, Libertads, etc. And for some reason they don't even show ASE at most of the dealers, including dealers...

Updated spreadsheet of dealer inventory, prices, and premiums

Hi all – I updated my Google spreadsheet with a new worksheet. This one has the inventory for a wide range of products as of this morning at four North American dealers: APMEX, JM Bullion, SD Bullion, and Silver.com. I didn't have time to complete the sheet for Provident and Silver Gold Bull...

How should silver sales tax and VAT exemptions work?

Hi all — Many jurisdictions exempt silver bullion from consumption taxes like VAT and sales taxes, and many don't. I'm interested in your feedback on how such an exemption should be designed. For the reasons given below, it's probably not as simple as just saying "exempt all bullion". For one...

    Determining Physical Silver Price

Ah, I see. So to triangulate the price, check out direct sales communities like PMsforsale on reddit, and the sellers here at Silver Stackers, and The Silver Forum. Then compare prices at dealers like Silver.com for the low end, and APMEX for the high end. Note that those two dealers don't have...

    Large silver spot price disparities

Hi all – I'm seeing significantly different silver spot prices from different sources and dealers. Here's what I found when I took a snapshot at 12:11 GMT/UTC today, March 26, 2020. All prices were with seven seconds of each other, and none of them changed significantly in the ensuing 30...

Are retail silver supplies drying up?

You guys are going to lose a ton of money on premiums. You would've made pure profit the last few days if you had bought an ETF. If you bought retail physical you wouldn't be profiting at all. I think one of the underexposed realities of the last few years is that silver stackers lose a lot of...

    Determining Physical Silver Price

I don't understand the question. How would we "determine the price"? Whatever dealers are charging is the price, but it depends on the product, if they even have anything in stock anymore. It's a huge mistake to buy now with these inflated premiums. Better to wait until premiums are normal again.

Are retail silver supplies drying up?

No it's a terrible idea to buy right now. You'll lose a lot of money on the extraordinary premiums. These premiums are temporary, so I'd wait until the market returns to normal.

Where are you getting the silver price? Which exchange?

But where are those prices coming from? Which exchange(s)? (I have the official Kitco app on my phone – they improved it quite a bit recently, and it seems better than third-party apps that use Kitco charts.)

In the US it happened with Bullion Direct. I'm not sure whether they were allocated or unallocated.

Where are you getting the silver price? Which exchange?

Hi all – I've long noticed discrepancies between different dealer silver price tickers, and I'm wondering what exactly are the sources. For now, I'm just curious where you're getting "the" price of silver, depending on region. In the US, I think when we refer to the silver price we're referring...
