IMHO if you are worried then put 5% of your cash into gold. This won't expose you to too much volitility but would save you in an extreme event. It's an insurance policy you can cash out whenever you want. Just buy some low premium bars and stash away.

It's a wise first purchase. Stick to these kinds of generic low premium bars if your strategy is to stack to the sky. You are spoiled for choice in the States. We can't get stacker bars at such a low premium in Australia.

Definitely the way to go buying from industrial suppliers. If you google image for copper bullion, many bars are clearly just sections of busbar bought from an industrial refiner and stamped by a dealer or mint to be resold at a premium lol.
