    Detailed Charts

I like this because it is quick and dirty but universal (i.e. even this site uses it): http://silverprice.org/silver-price-australia.html

    Fake coins.

That's what I thought until I saw a tungsten drilled bar. Weight, size and measurements were almost exact. Cut it in half and there's rods of tungsten inside. You can't do that to small coins or bars, and it is much harder to do with anything minted. Even so, if someone can exploit...

    Telstra (TLS)

I will not now, nor will I ever again deal with Telstra in any way, shape or form. Even if this is the best investment in the history of all investments, I would not place one cent in Telstra, nor would I ever be a customer or client. I would actively pay money not to deal with them again...

Silver - a store of value? Really?

BUT - and this was pointed out to someone who got hit first hand - the spread changes depending on the spike. A 4% buying spread (dealer buy price) turned into a 15% buying spread. So the be aware the graph you are looking at above is going to be different to what you can sell for.

Mine your own platinum/silver with a broom

Street sweeping and sewer drain dredging for precious metals is an industry in India. Bu t people are paid so little which makes it economical. There is a great documentary about it.

    Friday 8% Smackdown

I expect it to go much lower - like 20-18 AUD by the "expected" rates rise. I expect to keep buying during this time. I expect a rates CUT early next year and/or massive market damage by incorrectly increasing rates in a poor economy that can't take the increase. I expect it to be back up to...

    Trump economics and US Dollar

He has been so far. I'm crossing my fingers that was all popular politics and dog whistle politics for the election. Interesting times.

Silver - a store of value? Really?

Yeah. I agree with your points. I would just float the point that governments can sell off gold reserves at any time making Gold as volitile as silver, while silver has more and increasing industrial uses. But fundamentally that is speculation and I agree with your points given the current...

Silver - a store of value? Really?

In part I agree but silver does have good value. Silver is more volitile, has a larger spread and hasn't been a safe haven for governments or high wealth individuals. But the recent history of silver is unusual as it had a declining industrial use (photography),and I would argue that is...

    Trump economics and US Dollar

Do they teach the economics of how the US got out of the great depression in your schools? If not it is well documented. They had a labor army (work for welfare) and invested in nation building like the Hoover dam. Again, judge him and his team for what they achieve (or don't achieve). Pre...

Silver - a store of value? Really?

I've been to business schools. They don't teach the wisdom you already hold. I agree in full.

    Trump economics and US Dollar

I think we should wait of to see his actions before classifying them as wrecking ball. Give the guy a chance - even if you oppose everything he says and does. He has 4 years to prove himself and his team.

    Useless Trivial facts

The largest eyeball of any animal is a Squid (giant squid). The squid, like the octopus, has a doughnut shaped brain that forms a ring around it's stomach - which limits the bites size that it can eat at any one time.

    Useless Trivial facts

DO NOT LAUGH - Emus are vicious B*stards. Especially a male with a brood of chicks. The only thing scarier is a Cassowary, head down charging you. No outrunning it - just hide behind or climb a tree!

Silver - a store of value? Really?

See the post I just made under the "Silver" index. Something strange is going on that we have an increasing deficit of supply to demand yet the price isn't currently matching the changing supply vs demand.

    Useless Trivial facts

New Zealand used to have a Bird of Prey so big there are Maori stories of children being taken by them. It's thought they died out after they main prey - presumably when the Moa - died out.... or maybe eating children wasn't good for their long term health.

Ainslie Bullion - Daily news, Weekly Radio and Discussions

Japanese don't have negative bank accounts, they have very low interest on their money. The reserve bank has negative interest rates which stops banks parking money there, and instead forces them to "use the market". The only negative Japanese bank accounts are the ones that we have -...
