    Seen this panda before?

Big white blemish right on the front, I think that's why this one didn't go for more, probably because the OMP is torn too.

I'm convinced NGC doesn't like me because I complained too much about the WSOD Bears I had to send in under their guarantee, lol.

2003 Silver 1oz Panda as a Pocket Piece

I could be wrong, but I don't think the expense of NCS would be worth it. It's quite pricey, especially if not sending in several coins to reduced the shipping burden. It would be hard to recoup the expense in a sale, at least at current prices. I'd let it keep toning. Looks awesome so far.

I prefer providentmetals.com and goldmart.com. Usually better prices and lower shipping costs. You might also want to check out sdbullion.com.

    Buy platinum?

I'm with you. A while back I wrote a Seeking Alpha article looking at the historical ratios of silver, gold, platinum. This is what I came up with regarding gold:platinum. "From the charts I readily found tracking the trends from 1972 through 2011, the average gold to platinum ratio across...

    Buy platinum?

Chillidog had the sales thread up for 1 day before pulling it because spot price was rising and he didn't want to keep raising his asking price. I don't think that one sale attempt is valid for determine platinum buying interest on the forum.

    NGC Grading

Make a set of graded and a set of OMP and then you have the best of both worlds.

    Broken slabs - advice requested

I'd say it is impossible to switch out a label. Re-Holdering the coins with NGC will cost $7.50 each plus shipping there and back. Re-Holder as noted above is not a re-grade, just the holder is being replaced and that will not effect the grade. I don't know who you purchased from, but if the...

    NGC Grading

Don't buy coins willy nilly. Make a plan and allocate your money to that plan. Older pandas are definitely going to offer better long-term gains because they are rare and the quality of the OMP coins available on the market seems to be decreasing. New pandas are a bullion play, they have a small...

    Buy platinum?

Spot platinum as I write this is $1,553.50 USD. APMEX will BUY 1 oz. platinum Platypus at $1,583.50, Maples at $1573.80, Eagles over $1,600. The dealers I know here in the U.S. can't keep platinum in stock.

    NGC Grading

If you cannot examine an OMP coin in person, and aren't buying from someone you trust, it is likely better to buy the coin already graded. OMP condition can vary significantly. Some of the older capsules are prone to degrading coins through rubbing, air leaks, etc. An OMP on eBay may look...

    Buy platinum?

Coin buyers expect a premium. It's the nature of the beast. So you aren't really down because the premium for coins is part of the fair market value. If spot didn't change from the time you bought to the time you sold, you'd likely be able to recoup what you paid as long as you're selling to...
