2014 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver - Hottest Year yet!

Still, no point in buying the 5 oz bullion issue and trying to have it graded. You can buy one already graded for less money. ParadiseMint.com is another option for those looking for the graded bullion issues.

2014 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver - Hottest Year yet!

I somewhat disagree. The standard 5 oz bullion issue comes in a mint tube of 5. The "P" uncirculated version comes in dedicated mint packaging with a COA, box and capsule (and the capsule isn't easily opened). The "P" version also has a different finish than the bullion issue, so there's no...

    engelhard 10 oz silver bar

I live near Chicago. I go to a monthly local show where I know several of the dealers. Maybe my relationships with them have allowed me to get better pricing. Show is the second Sunday of every month, so if you're looking for something, PM me and I am happy to look for you.

    engelhard 10 oz silver bar

$1.50/per ounce over spot, and at local coin shows, it just depends on the bar. The vintage loafs and rare bars command much higher premiums, but the more modern the bar, the lower the premium. All things are negotiable. A dealer may ask $4/oz over spot and you can get it down to $2/oz over.

2014 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver - Hottest Year yet!

The "P" is uncirculated and comes in a different finish in mint packaging. The coins are gorgeous, low mintage, and you can subscribe to get the 2014 series from the mint for close to what the bullion ones are selling for now. The "P" series is what will command a premium in the future. I picked...

    Canada 2014 _Peregrine falcons

1 million mintage isn't that big in a world market. Look at all the premium for modern pandas, which now have a substantially larger mintage. RCM supposedly deployed new minting technology to remedy the milk spot issue as well.

america the beautiful silver coins? or silver bars?

The uncirculated "P" versions with the mint packaging command a significant premium over the BU versions. They also have a different finish and low mintage. You can subscribe now from the U.S. Mint for the 2014 edition at 10% off. Pretty good deal when you see how much they are appreciating in...

    engelhard 10 oz silver bar

Vintage Engelhard bars command a premium and very old and rare ones can get ridiculously expensive. Newer issues you should only pay about $1.50/oz over spot for, at least here in the US.

america the beautiful silver coins? or silver bars?

You have to do what is best for your budget and goals. Buying generic bars will always be the cheapest option and they are going to track the silver price. Kooks, Koalas, Pandas have some collectible premium that will hurt you at first but in the long run they will appreciate more because of the...

america the beautiful silver coins? or silver bars?

I prefer a mix of Kook, Lunar, Koala, Panda, ATB and bars. I avoid Maples and Eagles because I personally don't think they should command a premium when nothing really changes about them. The ATB uncirculated and bullion 5 oz. coins are gorgeous. I'm going to attempt to put the entire set together.

    Silver seems to be stuck

You would buy gold any time the silver or platinum ratio is in the hold, swap, liquidate range. I don't remember why I used those terms, but swap is basically a 'sell' rating and liquidate is a 'strong sell'. When you're selling silver and platinum, you're either buying gold, or if the...

I have done reseearch on this and decided pandas are the way to go

Conservation on high mintage coins is a waste of money, there is almost no way that you will make back that expense without a significant move in the metal price. I've bought, graded and sold hundreds of pandas, maybe not as many as Yennus or JC, but I have certainly had my fair share of...

    Silver seems to be stuck

Haha. It is a bit crazy without the background context. I came up with these ratios based on 30+ years of historical prices. I wrote an article for Seeking Alpha about it about 1.5 years ago. It's certainly not definitive, but I think looking at the ratios and how they compare to long term...
