Perth Mint won't be issuing the normal silver koalas in cards this year, only the coloured koalas. This comes from a friend who has contacted the Perth Mint about it.

If this is a sequel to the "Treasures of Australia" series, which came out 1 coin per year, I doubt it'll be following birthstones. Can't see a 12 year gemstone series really holding the enthusiasm :D The treasures of Australia were all precious gemstones/metals, whereas perhaps this one will...

Remains to be seen how this one goes seeing it was only released yesterday. The Red Back was created as a one-off, to mark the 50th anniversary of the anti-venom. It was not planned to be a series and wasn't called "Deadly and Dangerous", but I guess due to the success of that coin they decided...

Why do they call it a coin when it doesn't have a denomination? Isn't it actually a medallion? I don 't mind the designs, looks to be proof quality?

Those who collect for the love of collecting, rather than the opportunity to flip or sell on for profit, aren't interested in whether they are going to get their money back. They aren't buying it to sell later, they are buying for keeps and I can't imagine anyone would buy a coin like this for...
