    Deep sea rare earths

Apparently some Japanese folk have found a large deposit. I don't have a link handy though.

A question about the legal tender

Section 9 of the Currency Act 1965 says otherwise, but IANAL and don't have any interest in the private transaction of others. My understanding of the term legal tender means an artifical cap on the amount one can 'tender' payment using a particular denomination of coin. See Section 16 of the...

    whatever keiser says ...

Max is a smart cookie but like all sources you need to verify and validate any claims yourself and not take them at face value. I think he's a great entertainer who generally provides accurate commentary on financial markets.

Central Asia Resources Producing Soon (In Kazakhstan. VERY NICE)

Corruption is basically the same throughout the former Soviet republics but to different degrees. I'd call it cultural corruption as it is absolutely throughout the whole of society. You get ripped off left, right and centre. Government, non-government, in the markets, on the streets, mostly...

Central Asia Resources Producing Soon (In Kazakhstan. VERY NICE)

Reminds me of the time a few years ago when I met a Cuban geologist on a train in Kazakhstan. At the time I found it odd but obviously there are a lot of minerals in Kazakhstan that could be mined... potentially a veery wealthy country in the future but corruption is endemic.

    Did anybody buy Mon-Wed

Nope. Last purchase was less than current price. Best not to jump on "runaway trains". Anecdotally people seem to panic buy when the price goes up and panic sell when the price goes down.

    Back down to 1600?

If it drops back to 1600 AUD I'll be backing the truck up. I doubt we'll see 1600 but may see 16** AUD.

    What CGT to pay

That's complete and utter BS. FUD. Fear. Uncertainty. Denial. Burden of evidence is on the accusor, not the accused. In criminal matters juries only convict if there is no doubt (different for civil matters). Even if found guilty for something it doesn't mean all your assets are stripped.

    What CGT to pay

ATO was recently given the wiretapping powers of ASIO (ASIO now can share their info). However, wiretapping is almost exclusively only used for criminal matters. If you're small time then I doubt they would pay much attention here. If you are concerned then you should use proxies, VPNs, etc.

    Buying Gold at these highs?

Though we may see a further dip IMO sub-1700 AUD still represents value.

    Rhodium $1850

Rhodium is a much smaller market - hence the spot price is massively manipulated and is illiquid in comparision to gold and silver. Caveat emptor.

    Have you ever lost PM's

I once misplaced a few sovereigns... found them a few months later. I have a '37 crown that I've misplaced... hasn't turned up yet.

    The trickle before the torrent.

That is not quite correct. Many who rent will never, ever be in a position to buy a house; many others will choose not to buy. If rents increase then many people living alone will share-house, increasing stock/supply and dampening any further rises. Rent is always a function of what people can...

Do you really think we should be stocking up on food?

If you do end up doing something please send me a pm. To make it worthwhile you probably need a few dozen people involved. BTW - when you say bulk do you mean at wholesale markets or farmer direct?

    gold sovereigns

If it include postage then it is a reasonable price based on current spot price.

    Should I take the plunge?

Platinum acts more like an industrial metal. If there is a global economic slowdown then platinum may be hit hard whereas gold may rise. I'd consider buying an ounce but not much more than that.

    The Australian Banking Sector

There are two types of people in this world (financially): creditors and debtors. Creditor = depositor Debtor = bank Your deposit is a liability for the bank.

    Buying Gold at these highs?

That's rubbish. If you bought at the peak 30 years ago you would have been absolutely hammered. If you bought at 1550 three years ago you are probably still behind a term deposit account. I don't particularly like buying into strength but am happy to accumulate small amounts on a regular basis...

Will you ever exit out completely from gold ...

It's just a currency (not money). Why would you want to hold it if you believed it was ridiculously overvalued? Buy low, sell high.
