ABC Bullion - Addicted to Lowe’s Love of Low Rates

Thanks. I have shorter follow up rant today on central bankers become more political. I suppose I should lay off on the central banker bashing for a bit.

    Santa's Sydney Silver Stackeratti Soiree, Sunday 22 December, 2019, 2 - 4 pm.

I have a 1oz Ag Perth Mint Centenary Medallion, 5000 mintage cert #1742. Also have the centenary bottle of sparkling wine with gold flakes, # 661 of 862 (still sealed), there was a bit of controversy about the wine at the time, the opposition said it was a waste of taxpayer money but didn't...

    Perth Mints Gold Crypto

Meh, I think these quotes sum up the use of blockchain in gold at this time "In many ways it's just a branding element", "The blockchain technology is simply a bolt-on here; it's simply a more convenient way of doing it". I think there is potential in supply chain tracking for this technology...

Cheapest way to start and manage a SMSF buying gold and silver

Right now 1kg of ABC Bullion Pool Allocated Silver is $873.80 and 1kg ABC Bullion Cast Bar Silver is $893.10. The difference of $19.30 is the barring charge. If you bought the pool allocated and then came to Sydney later to take possession, we would charge a barring fee of $21.23 ($19.30 + 10%...

Banning cash and NEGATIVE interst rates.

It has an "and" there so I think it need both circulates and accepted. Often the purpose of the inclusion of these wordings is to carve out numismatic coins, which can be legal tender just like bullion coins. I don't think the drafters of the bill are thinking about bullion - this bill is highly...

Banning cash and NEGATIVE interst rates.

Sec 51 is just saying commonwealth has powers to legislate on currency. I think the "expressly confined to" mean that bit is to cover some unique case or loophole (not sure what that would be) and would not override the Act's explicit definitions. I don't think the drafters are aware of or care...

Banning cash and NEGATIVE interst rates.

Yes, and that pdf on page 8 of 16 says physical currency as per AML Act, and that Act says physical currency is defined as "circulates as, and is customarily used and accepted as, a medium of exchange in the country of issue"

Banning cash and NEGATIVE interst rates.

That definition comes from the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 which the Currency (Restrictions on the Use of Cash) Act 2019 refers to (as per my previous post) when defining digital AND physical currency.

Looking at the definitions at this link https://parlinfo.aph.gov.au/parlInfo/search/display/display.w3p;db=LEGISLATION;id=legislation%2Fbills%2Fr6418_first-reps%2F0001;query=Id%3A%22legislation%2Fbills%2Fr6418_first-reps%2F0000%22;rec=0 it says cash means either or both of the following...

Banning cash and NEGATIVE interst rates.

physical currency is defined as "circulates as, and is customarily used and accepted as, a medium of exchange in the country of issue" so legal tender bullion coins would not be caught.

Banning cash and NEGATIVE interst rates.

You only have to register for GST if you run a business and your turnover is over $75k, so personal transactions you don't have a GST issue, but yes if you get audited they will expect CGT on any profits on sale of PMs.

How to tell if a fake coin is merely coated with silver?

XRF is only surface, it may not help with a plated/coated fake depending how thick it is. I don't know how thick XRF goes, but we are talking micrometers.

Banning cash and NEGATIVE interst rates.

I don't see anywhere it includes precious metals. The definitions say "cash means either or both of the following: (a) digital currency; (b) physical currency" with those two definitions "has the meaning given by the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006"...

    New RBA Gold Audit Disclosure

It is quite rare for a CB to directly lease to a user, CBs usually lease to a bullion bank who then on lends it. In any case, a majority of these transactions are done via London, as it is an established central point for clearing trades. First, while the RBA has allocated, it would be converted...
