Colour changes to the cloudy ammonia when really dirty coins are put in it. After a few minutes you can see a brown tinge around the edges of the coins as the dirt flows off the coin. After a prolonged time the cloudy ammonia goes blue in colour as copper is dissolved off the surface of the coins.
