The new investors are ex government ministers and their families, I believe one of the families investing in the mines are called the Obeidu family.

Socialist is just one step away from a Democratic Socialist/People's Republic...or a communist dictatorship.

Mugabe rose to power on the back of 'ZANU' a terrorist organisation(with full support of the west incl. Australia) that once it overthrew the sanction starved White government of Rhodesia, proceeded to chew into their Terrorist cohorts ZAPU, ZIPRA and ZANLA is bloody purges that make the night of the long knives look like a kiddies birthday party.

Yep... even smaller companies are now are shying away from the last bastion of stability in Africa...the RSA. The Govt there is showing all the signs of incompetence and corruption that all her northern neighbours have succumbed to. That's why Australia is in such demand... political stability.... well relatively.

Even if someone stumps up the money for a platinum processing plant and magically finds enough workers with requisite skills - theres no guarantee the Zimbabwean economy can guarantee enough electricity to run the plant efficiently.

Ah Sovereign risk due to socialist policy. Don't you love it.

Many believe that our Liberal Prime Minister the (dis) honourable Malcolm Fraser who was the main proponent of the thug Mugabe. Fraser supported this abomination of a man and held him up as the new leader of Africa. Few people in Australia know that Mugabe soon after coming to power hired N Korean murder squads (5th brigade) to eliminate Matabele villages killing all men, women and children to destroy all opposition. The villages were forced to dig their own graves before being shot. In South Africa these events were well known, yet our leader Fraser said and did nothing! Did Malcolm Fraser ever apologise for supporting Mugabe. Strange how all the supporters of Zimbabwe and Mugabe are all now very silent. They now focus on other matters of equally misguided importance. Mr Fraser the people of Southern Africa are waiting for an apology ! The blood of thousands is on your greedy bloodied hands.

Yep and I predict when Mandella finally kicks the bucket RSA will implode much like the rest of the african nations

they wanted their countries "back" from white rule and look at what it has gotten them --- I tell you you should be scared that Obama is president as well.

Especially depressing for the white South Africans as the Boers tried to settle where there were no natives living there - explains why they mostly live in the west of RSA and not the east where the Zulus traditionally lived and the Swazis/Lesothans are. But like anywhere the Boers watched as people moved to the same areas to take advantage of their employment and after the historical circumstance of RSA being one nation rather than a group of small nations, the bad decisions of Mandelas party affect everyone.

So you're saying it's because they are no longer under white rule that's got them in the mess? A racist comment if ever I've heard one.
