This, like last weeks visit by Professor Martyn Poliakoff, (above) are blatant attempts to stave off criticisms of asset rehypothecation, tungsten salting or the gold simply not being there. The central bankers must be hoping these photo opportunities will be enough to prevent further calls by nation states for independent audits or even repatriation. These efforts might put some minds at ease, but surely worries many others. It raises the question, why would a modern monarch invest the time making such a high profile visit, to such barbarous relics, when at the insistence of central bankers everywhere the worlds financial system has moved past gold and other precious metals as a instrument of wealth preservation. Clearly this is not the case.
Do as the royals do in this case. Get phyzz and keep an eye on it. If Big Liz is checking out her stack - I suppose I should check mine... make sure all is in order...

I think it's actually more likely to have the opposite effect. The video from that professor has racked up 1.8 million YouTube views in 6 days and the images have been reported in a lot of mainstream media. It only take a few seconds to google gold's performance so a lot of people in the UK would now be aware gold has increased by ~18% every year for the last 10 years (average). That might be enough to convince people that owning gold isn't such a bad idea.
there is always 2 side of the coins.... having the viewing hit doesnt mean that people are actually taking action and buying gold... it could be reassuring them that the fiat are safe, and it is better than holding to fiat rather than pyhsical PM.. and they can convert them to gold anytime they want... except at a different price manipulated by the player.

I saw an interesting snippet on ABC news this morning where Lizzie and Phillip met with a bunch of bankers (during the vault visit I think). One question she asked was along the lines of "why didn't you see the crash coming", another comment was "wasn't it bankers that caused it in the first place", and another was "the regulators have no teeth" Phillip muttered "just don't let it happen again!" :lol: She's as bright as a pin I'd say You'd be wrong on that score, they've got tonnes of the stuff Refined my arse - she swears like a trooper apparently!
