There were approximately 500 million of these minted over a few decades. They were most definitely considered base-metal bullion at the time. And I paid a lot more than 8x spot. Point: Gotta think to the future, sometimes..
Would you pay 8x spot for generic silver round? All is relative $1.69 doesn't seem like much. So look at it this way you buy 1000oz at 99 cents. $990.00 > spot value $200.
If silver was 20c/ounce I wouldn't mind paying 8x spot for an interesting round. If I was buying copper for investment purposes then I'd be buying tons of scrap, not an occasional round here and there.
I know copper rounds cost alot more over spot but your paying for the work and delivery and storage of the coin so you cant expect to pay 2cent above spot or something... Anyway put the copper coins that you like in capsule because they mark easy
Yep, I have discovered fingerprints are very easy to leave on copper rounds. I've now put some in capsules and have left some out to see what happens.
* * * Paging CopperPete * * * FYI, partly because of you, I came *this* close this past weekend to picking up 20 copper rounds to bump up my small order to qualify for free shipping.. They would have been my first modern copper rounds. At the last-minute, I decided against it, and substituted them with some Ag. Still wondering if I made the right choice, heh. I really like the way they look.. Just something different for some cheap, fun novelty. Long-term, though, I don't know how well they'll hold up, even though I'd put 'em in air-tites. Old copper is tricky.. And if one isn't careful enough, it can turn on you. I still might grab some someday, who knows. Here's what I was considering (2 of each, to fill up an air-tite tube). Not sure if you've seen them all before, and/or are even available to you. But if not, and you like what you see, bug your local dealer.. http://www.providentmetals.com/provident-prospector-1-oz-copper-round.html http://www.providentmetals.com/2015-year-of-the-ram-1-oz-copper-round.html http://www.providentmetals.com/mercury-dime-1-avdp-oz-999-fine-copper-round.html http://www.providentmetals.com/morgan-dollar-1-avdp-oz-999-fine-copper-round.html http://www.providentmetals.com/lincoln-wheat-cent-1-oz-999-fine-copper-round.html http://www.providentmetals.com/peace-dollar-1-oz-999-fine-copper-round.html http://www.providentmetals.com/buffalo-nickel-1-oz-999-fine-copper-round.html http://www.providentmetals.com/capped-bust-1-oz-copper-round.html http://www.providentmetals.com/walking-liberty-1-oz-999-fine-copper-round.html http://www.providentmetals.com/saint-gaudens1-oz-copper-round.html
Well, hello there. Sometimes I like to get a matching copper round with a silver round when one is available. I doubt anyone is thinking of profiting from copper rounds (except dealers). I've put some in capsules and left some out. I had plenty of cheap copper Buffs so I tried putting some in a bag with a boiled egg. I got some partial toning but it didn't turn out too well.
