Has anyone bought from www.suissegold.ch ? some pretty good rates, much better than the australian dealers. i know this has been answered in a few threads but i cant find them- is there a tax on importing precious metals? i know customs imply a tax on good over $1000, unsure whether that applys here though.

http://forums.silverstackers.com/to...ly-for-a-private-gst-ruling-from-the-ato.html Have a look at the above details on importing gold/silver bullion. Also refer to Austalian Customs website for information too. I have not used Suisse Gold before but as you say the prices seem reasonable. Check for any required minimum $ purchase. Suisse Gold use FedEx and UPS for delivery of your purchases, it seems that FedEx have been a source of pain for some people in the past (the hassle of getting your import free of GST). Do your own due diligence; do the currency exchange costs and delivery costs outweigh buying from within Australia?, would OzForex be helpful to you regarding costs for overseas purchases (OzForex have minimum purchase values too)? For example, have a look at Maggie's Corner thread (recent one was for purchasing from Apmex, closed lunchtime today though ) where she offers assistance to members who want to buy Apmex products, she uses her clout in bulk buys, good for SS members! Please don't be too anxious to buy from overseas when with a bit of patience you can get quality bullion from within Australia at near similar prices without the importation hassles. Check all the SS site sponsors for their specials too. Good luck.
I see Maggie has another deal on Suisse Gold silver dragon bars.... http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-17579-f-s-suisse-gold-999-silver-2012-dragon-1oz-bar.html
suissegold no longer does UPS, even thoug their website said so. I asked them about UPS shipping and they only offer fedex. They can arrange UPS on your account (you pay for it seperately). So, watch out for the usual fedex gst.
out of interest, did you submit identification documents? (anti laundering policy) how long does approval take?
I don't think the prices are better than AUS dealers at all - just depends where you're buying from what quantities & how regular your orders are. VRS x
Yes, there's a form they send and we also sent proof of identity paperwork. Probably took about 10 days including postage.
The person they assigned to contact me They have 2 shipping options FedEx which from reading can cause me GST trouble and they also offer International Priority (which i assume is Swiss International postage) - This wont give me any trouble?
They ship here through fedex only I think, at least that is what the customer service said. I was not aware they will do suissepost for international shipment.
Im staring at my screen now with "International Priority Registered Post - 7 Days" as the delivery method on the checkout page. see for yourself!
Give it a shot, and if your order is above 1k and it passes customs, let us know. We are eager to bypass the damned fedex gst.
@xag I suggest to confirm with email they will not use fedex, because I heard cases that fedex was used despite the person asked International Priority Registered Post at the checkout like you suggesting.
If they do not response anymore on your phone and email, how can you get a refund? Waiting over three months now.
Have you tried the contact details below? If you have no luck, maybe have a solicitor send them a letter. When dealing with most (legitimate) businesses that are not following their own terms and conditions, it's amazing how much better their co-operation becomes when contacted by a solicitor.
