yea thats what I was saying a while back ... these "estimates" can be very misleading compared to what the coin will actually sell for.
10oz Gold 1982 vault protector PF66UC @ $27500... was that you RC? Also lol @ PCGS PF68 1984 S10Y selling for 1000 and the NGC x 2 both sold at 1100.
It isn't by accident. Auctioneers usually send all their coins to a single grading service. The oddball coin in a catalog from the alternate service must have already been graded by the consignor before it was submitted. Best wishes, Peter Anthony http://www.pandacollector.com
Someone must really like this one. Yan Di 1983 PF-68 UC Estimate 10k-15k Final price 140k 15k doesn't even cover the buyers premium fees How many silver pandas could that buy?
WOW, I stayed up and watched the MCC coin auction and actually bid but did not win on a few , Where they bids?? or where they broadcasting telephone numbers??? ,some real high numbers when you factor in buyers premiums.................
I'm surprised it's still going. Missed most of the stuff I wanted to bid because I had an exam Prices were out of my 'bargain' range though Last lot now: WTF $550 for 2006-2009 10 yuan panda... + 20% buyer's premium that's $660 :/
extremely hard to find bargains in that site, this is why I am not recommend buy from Stacks Bowers, I registered 3 years ago and only took few bid, no win. i am pretty sure they have a reserve price and this reserve price over mkt price a lot.
There were bargains on some rarer stuff. I saw a 1995 set of PF69 silver coins on stacks go for less than 90% of what a dealer in China was asking in OMP. However this is in the high four figures range so... can't really afford atm The common stuff was definitely overpriced, especially the BU pandas.
The auction was interesting I bid on 11 lots and won two of them for decent prices. Actually they made a mistake when auctioning lot #23xx1 as they had the picture and description of lot #23xx2 for bidding so that is the one that I was bidding on. I ended up winning a lot that I did not want and have disputed it which is no big deal either way as I will just sell the coins if I don't want them. The other lot that I won was a good deal and came very close on a few others so it was good fun. I noticed yennus watching the brass prices as it did peak my curiosity as well and was happy the see the 1983 1 yaun brass panda sell for $956 (with BP) The 12 oz graded gold pandas sold very close to spot which I felt was very low someone got a good deal.
Just checking if anyone has received their invoices for the auction. Emailed them last week and they replied promptly with an email saying invoice was in the email. There was no attachment and they haven't replied since.
Have received their invoice through email. Payed online which was actually easier than I though it would be with international transfer from Australia. At the end of the day it came out quite costly with transfer fee($22) and postage($35) for 1-2 items.
maybe since I disputed one auction lot that they havent settled mine yet ... the auction was very cool and totally fun but honestly a little disorganized. More than once they had the wrong picture and description up for what actually auctioned ...
I got my Stacks invoice today ... it was good to see that the lot they had an error with was acknowledged and removed from my invoice without issue. Overall a very easy purchase ... I definitely will continue to participate in the Stacks auctions.
I tried to pay online but declined ... I called their number and said only bank transfer for coins in session 4 ... did you possibly buy coins from one of the other sessions ? Well now my comment of "very easy" purchase just dropped a few levels down to "fairly easy"
I emailed them and they sent me a pdf invoice which had details of the bank transfer.
