That's exactly the point - if an impending announcement of a trading halt (down to the day) is that widely known then the company is hardly keeping the market informed is it ? But that is common practice these days so nothing new. sorry for taking the thread off topic. Good luck to all with the rolling of the dice on the announcement (assuming you don't already know the contents )
Maybe you're looking at it from the wrong perspective? On Friday the company informed the market (which was already anticipating an announcement of trial results) that an announcement was imminent. To me that is very informative. More informative than if they had kept it a secret. I'd rather know an announcement was imminent, than have one sprung on me by surprise.
Are you talking about PBT ? There was no announcement made on Friday. Most recent announcement before today's trading halt was 2.5 weeks ago.
"The company is expecting the release of the results of a Phase 2 Alzheimer's Disease trial later this month" Announcement dated 11th March. Today was the last day of the month, hence my prediction of a TH today. Market was well informed IMHO.
Trew , not sure if you follow stocks much but PBT is well informed when comparing to most other stocks. Btw results are out for pbt Not good I'll be bailing ASAP
As Greenman mentioned, they had promised results before the end of March. On Fri night, there was a Biotech Industry Futures Leaders Conference in NY. PBT had a rep presenting, and the conference had a live webcast. These particular quotes by PBT caught my attention: After Friday, that left only today for release. After the conference on Fri night, I put 2 and 2 together, and concluded that they were going to release trial results imminently  (ie today).
Don't feel too bad that you missed out.... Take a look at NASDAQ premarket!!!!! O---M---F---G---!!!!! Ahh well, easy come, easy go...... that's what happens when you "roll the dice"
Im learning heaps about these stock thingys. Note to self: Avoid companies using the word "imminently".
Yes. And also avoid companies that invent miracle biotech solutions, or that mine silver..... neither can fulfil their claim to be the world's saviour.
Seriously, here is the biggest lesson that can be taken by any stacker from this fabulous announcement disaster. I have been using this comp as a study/calibration/verification of my trading phsyc, which I consider the most important measure in trading... the ability to detach and be objective. Now, check out this HC thread leading into this afternoon's disaster. It is eerily reminiscent of a lot of PM advocates in relation to QE. It echoes so much sentiment displayed in threads on this very forum. These guys had already counted their winnings based on the ignorant assumption that they were right. Sound familiar? In fact, it is a perfect analogy of how emotional attachment can turtle you up real fast if you don't remain objective and realistic...... Just saying....
S#ishers.. Well at least we know the results werent widely leaked hope you didnt have real $ tied up here I dont feel so bad that my meu bet ended lower and on the days lows
No turtling way! I don't roll the dice with real money.... (unless of course I am pissed in the casino maybe once a year. )
Oh, one more thing before I call it a night. Can I kindly ask those of you who dabble in a bit of T/A to have a crack at this?, if you haven't already..... pretty please? http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-51628-what-do-you-think-of-this-stock-opinions-please.html It is just another test of trading psych for my own benefit, but am willing to share before tomorrows cut-off. I am just curious, that's all. You might even appreciate my reasoning too!? Cheers.
MEU out with announcement, initial reaction good, then profit takers stepped in. Now trading another 5% lower on day
yea, that's pretty bad in line with US reaction though, do they have anything else in the pipeline in the short/medium term? Suspect they will drift lower until there is another catalyst/reason to buy in..
MEU -21% on the day PBT -74% on the day  I think we should stick to silver, at least it only drops 50% from peak! anyone else have a big loss today?
