Does one 'Trade' constitute one or two individual transactions ? Ie: trade=(sell X, buy Y)

Also will current holdings of all participants be posted each week ?

    One trade = (sell X, buy Y)

Yes, every item of info you could imagine will be posted after weekend trading has occurred, including the weekly leaderboard, your portfolio and your total profit/loss. :)

Greenman, thanks for running the comp! And special thanks to Mrs Greenman for all the double checking she'll be doing! :D

Just to clarify my understanding of the rules -

Any given trade must buy/sell different shares, i.e. sell X, buy Y, rather than sell and re-buy the same share (sell X, buy X) ?

Trading must be based on closing prices rather than intra-day pricing, i.e. trades must use market closing prices on Tuesday and Friday?

Welcome aboard Whinfell. Yes and yes. Cannot re-buy same shares on same day and trading uses market close prices. We can't make it too easy. :p

I'm assuming if you already own both X and Y you can sell some of X and buy more of Y.

Greenman - Can you trade your 'keeper' stock ?

ie sell and buy through the game provided you maintain at least a minimum holding of the keeper at all times.

Thanks for the question Trew. This is why I posted the game early in the week.

All trades are clean trades. I understand what you are asking, however not sure it is in the spirit of the game to just circle two stocks (not saying that was your intention). So therefore I am adding the following rule:

    15. Once a stock is owned, it is in quarantine for that individual. It can only be traded in again two weeks (14 days) after it is sold.

Keeper is not to be traded at all. You need to get your keeper right from the start.

    Hope this helps.

You will need to explain this more as I don't get it.

And what do you mean by clean trades ?

I think he's saying once you sell one of your stocks you can't buy again for 2 weeks?

If you sell a stock in full you cannot return to buy it again for two weeks.

    Good rules.
    Good comp.

    No worries.

On Friday you purchase your 3 stocks including one keeper (Stock A, B and C). Lets say stock A is your keeper. Stock B and C cannot be added to at any point whilst you own them.

Stock B and C can be traded, however you must sell ALL of your holdings in stock B or C at any one time, no partial trades.

This is what I mean by clean trades.

If at the end of week one you decide to trade stock C for stock D, then a 14 day quarantine begins on stock C. This means that you can't buy back into it again for 14 days.

Stock A is with you for the entire duration of the competition. You cannot add to it or take from it.

I hope this makes sense. If not, let me know. I'm trying to keep this game as simple as possible as it is a pilot game.

Correct. At market close on Friday (After 4:10pm AEDST), all stocks will be bought on the offer price at that time including your keeper. :)

    Not long to go now!

Just a free tip for this coming Friday to all participants...

I have been war-rooming this game over the past few days and would strongly suggest you leave some money in cash when you pick your initial 3 stocks. Especially if you plan on spending just 10% of your portfolio on any one stock.

Some of you will already know why. Others will pick it up pretty quick! :)

If you would like a simple excel trading sheet that is based on the one I will be using for this competition, PM me with your email address. it might come in handy for some of you during the trading periods. It is pretty simple and looks like this:

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. ;)
