I have been stacking silver for awhile now with my stack reaching 30kg. Has anyone looked or invested into Rare Strategic Metals such as Rhenium, Indium, Hafnium, Gallium etc? As far as I know investing in these can only be done outside of Australia and I would like to know anyone's thoughts on this strategy? Cheers,
Welcome to SilverStackers There's a thread right down near the bottom of the main page where new members can say hello. Many like myself have overlooked that step simply because they didn't see it. Not a big deal but why not go there just the same. Check that out first and then join the pandemonium
When considering 'exotic' metals be aware that they may have different storage/handling requirements and may not be as liquid when you want to sell. Gold is about as liquid as you'll get.
We get a sizable amount of the Platinum group metal Osmiridium down here in Tasmania. Once the largest producer of it worldwide. The other main area globally is in Central Eastern Russia, in the Ural Mountains. Its a natural alloy of osmium and iridium. Both are off the charts for heat, durability, specific gravity etc. Generally for our deposit assayes at 40% osmium and 30-40% iridium depending on location. Osmiridium also hosts several trace platinum group elements and some are so rare they are worth is over Au$50000 a gram!
