The question is where will you be tomorrow and the day thereafter? Interesting to know who exactly you think is "the herd"? I believe you will be surprised when you finally realise exactly who the herd really are.
Well put your money (or in this case silver) where you mouth is... Put your silver up for sale then! Money talks and bullshit walks...
I've traveled extensively in the USA and theres very few places there Id live. I reckon the USA reached its peak in the 1980's in terms of financial strength and since the its been on a slow inevitable decline.
I have traveled to, and lived in, many countries including different parts of America. While in the US I felt very much welcome and at home and have a lasting fondness for most Americans. There were the odd exceptions and unfortunately Bama guy is the epitome of the "ugly American" that causes many around the world to dislike Americans. I am glad to know that the majority of Americans are not at all like this and find it such a shame that these rude, bombastic loud mouths cause such an undeserved dislike of Americans in general. It is hardly driven by jealousy! How arrogant.
It's all the bad shit that the US government does around the world that gives Americans a bad name. The average American is no different from the average person in any other country, albeit is generally more prosperous than most.
Very true. The average people anywhere in the world are just decent folk trying to get ahead, or rather, trying to keep above water in many cases. Americans, in my experience are no better or worse than anyone else and I find them very hospitable and friendly to visitors. Plenty of A-holes but a greater number of average decent people also. The US government I would hardly bother pi$$ing on if they were on fire but that's a separate issue and has no reflection at all on the nature of the American people. I actually did not find a greater degree of prosperity in the US in comparison to other 'first world' nations. Perhaps I was visiting the wrong (or right) places.
I've been to America 3 times in 12 years. I think the American people are awesome, at least the ones i've spoken too. I think a country gets bad press from the actions their government takes, its not the peoples fault. Its the same with most things, take football, you hate the team, you hate the players for that team. lol
I'm heading over to the U.K in a few weeks, looking forward to hanging out with my friend in Bath...he's an Royal Air pilot. Should be fun. Great guy...we joke about each other's culture(s)...and, it's fun seeing it from each other's perspective's. We have more in common than we have differences...speaking from the UK and US mindset.
One thing I hate in American media is the frequent use of subtitles when an English speaking foreigner is speaking clearly and understandably. Again, not a reflection on Americans in general but it seems rather condescending, insulting at times. Ok, some British accents do actually need a translator, say a heavy Scottish brogue for instance, but surely most English speaking people are not that hard to understand? :/ I can even follow the accent of those good ole southern boys, most of the time. Ebonics is most certainly a challenge though, however this is never subtitled for our enlightenment. Probably some PC thing I suppose. :| It would crack me up when Steve Irwin visited there and laid on his heavy Aussie twang and slang. There were often some communication difficulties with him. Vive le difference. (Not quite the appropriate phrase, but close.) I love different cultural experiences.
