I was looking into this a while back when I first found that WA legislative document for administering a poison. The one I saw was for the defence force to have the ability to administer a poison. The reason they call it a poison (IMO) is because it could cause harm or death. "In biology, poisons are substances that can cause death, injury or harm to organs, tissues, cells, and DNA usually by chemical reactions..." I haven't looked at the legislation in whole, but I could understand how such legislation would be necessary to indemnify those administering injections, especially when the defence force is brought in to do so in a "national emergency". As everyone would already know, the term "choose your poison" isn't to be taken literally. Hell, I used it when presenting multiple service options to a client recently. It was definitely poorly chosen terminology given the nature of this current experiment.
