Perth Mint 1kg bar

    Just have a random question re the way the Swan is facing on a 1kg bar as in left or right

    Which is the correct way or does it may any difference

    Appreciate comments and thoughts

    Pretty sure the left facing swan are on the earlier made bars before they switched logo to the right facing.

    Thanks for your reply as that was my thinking also with the earlier style bar
    More of a collectors buy and hold a premium perhaps ?

    Apparently the switch from left to right swan is surprisingly recent - in 2008 if I've understood correctly. It's really a darn shame that it seems quite impossible to resurrect the treasure trove of info that was lost when this site was overhauled. :(

    Yep, the left facing Swan is the older and right is newer

    Depending on the actual bar, some of the left facing carry a premium, but not a lot

    2008 was also when the mint starting putting the "P" on all their coins too

    Perth Bullion have those bars in stock too. I used to have one myself but it was 100oz - beautiful bar

    Probably $30-$40 more than standard PM bars in terms of value (1kg)
