Looking Strong, broken out of a down trend Needs to stay above $23 News was encouraging in the Quarterly My suspicion is that the XGD bottomed on Jan 10th and 11th (too early to confirm) needs to get above and stay about 4950 (i think NCM is a 10% weighting in the XGD index, I might be wrong on that).
Down to $21.90 I know this is stupid, but I get the feeling with gold and gold stocks, that these least few days are like the retreating tide before a tsunami.

Should you buy it? Thats your personal choice. I think an Australian portfolio serious about the gold bull - should own some of Newcrest But obviously diversify and DYODD, and its not the cheapest stock, nor is it the biggest potential growth stock in the space I think you should read through the last 5 quarterlies to get a feel if the stock is right for you. I personally topped up at 21.40 - I was happy with that price

Whoaaaaaaa there, boy. NCM down 7.3% today alone. Michael Maloney said the other night that he didn't really like gold mining stocks because you always have to consider that the share price could be dragged down by poor management, difficult regulations and industrial action. He just preferred the physical stuff.
If it gets below $20 ill be finding some money from somewhere to buy as much as I can between $19-20 Freakin Bargain IMHO. Lower guidance at lower prices - if you are going to have a mine offline or lower production now is the time to do it with the lower gold prices. Whenever gold resumes its bull, these mines are going to be all-fixed-up and producing strong numbers.
Christ, people think the PM prices are bad. My gold/silver portfolio looks like a train wreck. But NCM under $20 is an absolute bargain and I'll be buying more.
More down yet I would be betting. Could plumb the GFC lows at the least. Crap management and assets fundamentally plagued with weaknesses. I wouldn't even be tempted if it hit 16-15 bucks
