Thanks.. I'm telling you, these things are pretty wild in-hand!

Was literally LOL'ing when I first opened it. Still got a bit of a grin on my face.

Though I can see why some people might not like it?

I think it's really tough to do fur. The tusks are what brings it together.

Plus, only English -- no Chinese -- on either face.

The back is nicer than expected. Though they definitely cheaped-out on the packaging.. Whatever.

But that relief, man.. Oh, boy!

I wish they could have done it as 80g / 45mm (instead of 64g / 40mm) -- but I think they designed it around the standard fatty slab.

Any bigger, and it wouldn't have fit. The high-point of the trunk is just about popping out of the slab as it is!

And yeah, even though got an okay price, probably still overpaid by about 20%.

But, the small mintage is there.

The lighting sucks in the photos, but was going after the relief angles (not the color)..

Weird, because just yesterday those lights were great for photos of something else.

Anyway, the lines are definitely getting blurred these days.. This is like a cross between a Chinese medal & a poured Bison Bullion art bar.

I, for one, welcome this development..

Pressed vs poured....two different ball games.

    Already understood. ;)

Was asking him to explain re: different tech -- *if* there's a difference between Mammoth style versus others (like World Heritage, Shenyang's Emei / Wutai, etc.)

If he meant Mammoth versus Bison Bullion..

I was merely stating that Chinese medals & poured art bars are starting to converge in the middle, with medals (and now coins) taking on a much chunkier format with high-relief stuff -- and already-chunky poured/cast bars are incorporating a lot more design & detail that was once typically reserved for minted "discs."

I'd have to compare them side-by-side, but I'm starting to see some similarities between Mammoth & the new YPS Lion, for example..

That high relief mammoth is amazing. Thank god they are almost impossible to get in Aus. I don't need that kind of temptation!

Plenty of sellers of brass (both 50mm & 90mm, slabbed & raw). All ship to AUS.

Only 1 seller of Ag (64g / 40mm, both slabbed & raw). "Free" ship to AUS. Medal ain't cheap, though.

Will have to compare side-by-side, but the relief of Ag Mammoth (just 40mm diameter) probably beats the relief of World Heritage Great Wall @ 70mm diameter!

    Amazing, indeed.

Although I have some reservations about slabbed 90mm brass (budget; darkness of antiquing especially when slabbed), I'm debating that one as it's quite tempting for me.

That thing must be a BEAST!

This is 1st of a series, started in 2015.

3 more after this, 1 per year..
