Exactly, but the people paying $400+ for the BU Hawaii coins would disagree with you. FTR - I wouldn't pay it down the road either, but I don't pay huge premiums on coins today either. I buy the ones I believe will do well and then sell off and repeat after they appreciate in value.
The bullion versions of both ATBs and ASEs are generally comparable in what they fetch (per ounce) in the after market but a few of the bullion ATB's are fetching a much higher premium than any ASE bullion of the same year in the same condition. So, ATB's are a better ROI in my opinion and the mintage numbers apparently do matter to enough people in the after market.
I'm new to stacking and the ATB's are my #1 choice. I'm lucky that a LCS has them readily available for good prices. They are taking orders for 2014's now but I grabbed a few Mt. Rushmore from them. My favorite coin of the collection so far. I hope the minting numbers remain low for these.
Hey all, APMEX is offering free shipping on any ATB right now. I was surprised to see that they had the 2012 Hawaii bullion for $226 with credit card. I snagged one for the collection. That is a really good price for that one!
Just a few moments ago, I received this special offer from APMEX in my email InBox: Looks like a good opportunity to me to save on shipping costs while picking up the hot 2012 ATB coins you've wanted to. The following is the embedded link provided in APMEx's message: http://www.apmex.com/Category/1417/...onsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Promotion Check with APMEX to see if sales to your state get charged sales tax....most states shipped to do not. .
Would you agree that is a good price on the Hawaii? There is a bullion version on eBay right now bidding up to $305. Somebody is going to be kicking themselves!
It's even possible that mintage numbers get lower for certain issues....the US Mint makes that determination on an individual coin issue basis. Seems like many people really appreciate the design of the Mt Rushmore coin....including myself. .
APMEX has the 2012 Denali bullion for $149?????? Where did they dig these up? Surprised to see that Arcadia bullion is the highest at $299.
That's a darn good price but I am in one of the few states that APMEX charges tax to ship to and so I will have to weigh that added cost. If someone is not in a state that tax is charged to ship to, it's a price on possibly the most sought after bullion coin of the series thus far that will be very hard to match or beat by any other dealer in the US. As for the Acacia coin having the highest price, I'm not that surprised.....it's one of the most popular coins of the series and lower mintage than many of the other issues if I recall correctly. . .
I just took the plunge and got all five of the 2012s. Don't remember seeing the bullion versions being that low and the free shipping sealed the deal for me.
This would be awesome to own - set of 5 2012-P ATB 5 oz coins in SP70 condition...wow!: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012P-ATB-5...14?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item27df02321e I am not the seller and I have no affiliation with the seller. I simply came across this searching for hot ATB coins. .
Do you think he will really get $5000 for these? The APMEX sale on the 2012s is still going on but the prices did not remain the same. I go the bullion Hawaii early in the week for about $220, now they want $308!
I love everything about the ATB collection. I'm new to stacking but plan on continuing with all of the coins minted, I need to get my APMEX order in. Thanks for the info mmissinglink I agree with you 100%
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that by year's end close, $5000 for this graded set will be the going price if not a decent bargain. I believe that interst in the ATB coins will continue to surge and that by year's end, silver prices will be on an upward march (perhaps slow, but steady). Those 2 factors will drive prices on all ATB's up but especially the key issues to date in SP70 or MS70 graded condition. .
Some nice designs here and the 2015 Saratoga design is really growing on me....it's a historic moment frozen in time: http://mintnewsblog.com/2014/03/2015-america-the-beautiful-quarters-design-candidates/ .
Anyone looking to unload the bullion version of 2012 Hawaii and Denali ? Due to high minimum order value to UK I cannot order from APMEX, unlike you lucky folks in the USA.
