I can only imagine the type response that the French will have to this.
“Make America great again” is going to look funny in 39 years. In the mean time many people are going to be caught in and be affected by this struggle for dominance.

This isn't racism but perception. The Chinese admire European culture a lot, this is why you would see them rebuilding Europe in China. However, they would view the European as a Westerner, whether West, East or Central European or Russian. In ancient China, even a Persian would be categorised together with Europeans.

Conversely, Europeans may consider Chinese as a single race when it is actually comprised of many different ethnic people speaking different mother tongue languages and with different customs and often even different writing (characters).

The implication is whatever happens in HK, the blame would not be just on the US, regardless of culpability, but it will be a setback for everything Western, even if subconsciously. In other words, everyone loses if the situation in HK deteriorates.

For some reason, Macau people are happy with their life. I remembered when I was younger, Macau was quite a dangerous place with all the triads and street shooting. So China is able to control the triads and gangs. Maybe Mexico should get China's help. Singapore used to have troubles with gangs until the government starts catching everyone - judiciary process not required. :D

But it remains to be seen what happens when China starts to clamp down on the casinos. This can't go on forever.

Tell me more, I'm curious about Singapore's problems with gangs. In my mind, they're ultra-safe, but perhaps a few decades ago it was different.

    How about Macau?

I'm extremely fascinated about Southeastern Asia, that's why I'm so curious.

Trump is pulling the carpet from underneath the US with his "make great" plan.

If French wine would get slammed with huge tariffs upon entry on the US market, then the US could turn easily to Indian wine, they make plenty. Not long ago "ze French" were complaining about competition from India. They have wider areas and can produce a lot more. Of course, not the same quality...

The French are blaming global warming on why they cant grow good grapes. I heard some farmers on the radio the other day talking about it. It's too wet and cold now. Go figure.

I'm not old enough to know about the gangs first hand. From history text, the Chinese gangs were formed along the lines of chinese languages (dialects). Even from the same province. e.g. Fujian, there could be several chinese languages (dialects) and there are different gangs.

The British had to bring in indian troops to control the gangs as they fought each other. This is why Singapore is the first to ban the regional dialects in schools and on paper/tv (both spoken and written) and force everyone to learn mandarin (the beijing dialect). As a result, the mandarin spoken in Singapore is more orthodox than some parts of china.

Something is certainly wrong with the weather. It's the same in Southern Europe: Greece, Italy are have major problems with the olive production.

Thank God, there's Portugal and Spain. They "saved" the production, but what if they'll have issues as well?

There's a mini-ice age this year due to solar minimum, less heat from the sun.
