I'm not really a kookaburra collector but just after a few to complete the 1oz set. I see KJC have all the re-strikes for sale but a 20 coin minimum. Goldstackers has only 4 of the re-strike years.

    Anyone know where you can buy the Kookaburra re-strikes? I'm after 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003.

Will have other years shortly. Pretty much a full run of 1992 to 2007 will be available in the near future.

Many thanks. BB when you put in their search "kookaburra" it was only showing the 2012 & 2013 coins.

They dont have full years anyway, missing 1998 so think I'll just wait a bit !

The earlier ones were in Square slab plastic, but when restruck are in round capsules. But that is only the early years.

Didnt all the stock sell out?.. i thought the 91, 92 and 93 were all over now... if not ill buy some more, these things are madcore hot right now

GP: what do you mean they will all be available again shortly? I was under the impression they had already reminted earlier dates to MAX.. thought it was just the remaining 2000's that we due to get RE-released.

This is farcical, great for anyone looking to create sets. It also shows how they are bullion and not numismatic. That is like going and restriking 1931P Sovereign Proofs. Why not they would have the dies. I will take a few thanks.

Only 1991 reached full mintage in the last round - everything from 1992 to 2007 can still be struck, as there is space in the mintage to do so. A number of years are being reminted at the moment.

OK.. its good for us as we can buy.. but generally its bad on an aggregate level for all those people who paid big premiums to complete sets.. we can now buy these in MINT states for serious discounts..

Times when a bad policy benefit a few at the expense of the money.. i still don't like it although i can personally benefit from it..

I've seen collectables get CRUSHED when producers do not obeying basic collectable fundamentals.. don't mess with secondary market, no re-issues.. don't mass produce.. don't DUMP product on the second hand market, don't discount your product when they are not selling well (destroy it).

Keeping the investors happy in the secondary market (essentially by doing nothing) is a hard lesson.. like the big government we would be better off without.. no more manipulation of the secondary market please! It has a direct causation to secondary market prices which are a core reason why we drop big bucks on silver in the first place - if we don't see the earlier dates with premiums why would we buy the current year..

This is Yennus's major reason when selling Panda Phenom to SS... right now i have to say he has hit the nail on the head. (congrats).

So then I guess you can assume that all years will eventually be minted to their 300,000 limit.

Next the Perth Mint will be pointing to any coin that was 'unlimited' mintage and claiming that means they can mint as many as they like whenever they like.

There's just the general newsletter, which we've been a bit tardy about sending out (i.e. never). Just listed a bunch of new years. Will have the rest listed next week.

Online bullion dealers have a 2012 Kookaburra for about $44 with a 500k mintage and a 1993 etc for about $37 with a 300k mintage and date stamped 20 years older than a 2012 kook - madness!

FWIW IMHO the Kooka's have only ever been premium BULLION value full stop. Yeah a premium for quality BUT never a collectable premium. I'd pay a bit extra just to finish my set but that'd be for ONE coin only.

    Just my opinion

Doesn't seem right to me that the difference between an original issue and a re-strike is its plastic case.
Having purchased a nice wooden box for 20 Kooks, they all need to placed in round capsules.
With spare square capsules now I could put a re- strike into any of them.
The Mint should apply a mark on the coin to differentiate surely.
