I've been thinking of turning a coin into a Keyring.

First off, I will probably drill a hole through it then just use the parts of a normal keyring.

I would love to use a 1/2oz snake (and a dragon for the mrs) but would it be illegal because it's technically legal tender?

    Or should I use a round like a Scottsdale 1/2 or 1/4oz

Last of all which size do you guys think would be better, 1/2 or 1/4oz? Or even a big ol' ouncer?

    1/2oz

The less weight on your ignition the better, I'd go the half Oz.

Looks like no one likes my idea, is it because I'd be destroying a coin?

Well I just got the two of them out of the hidey-hole and took em out of the capsules and the 1/4 looks better but the 1/2 feels so much better

I have wanted to drill out a few coin as well, or a bar or 2, but not for a keychain, but no-one here will like drilling out coins or bars and I can't do it myself (no real tools). i did drill out a Noah's ark 1/2oz, all I had was a dremel, but it turned out so crap, very uneven and rough. It wouldn't even be that hard for someone with proper tools, just a 12mm simple hole

I would be totally willing to pay you for your troubles and pay for registered post both ways :), PM me

I don't exactly have the proper tools either and haven't done it before but it would be simple, but really? A 12mm hole? Thats massive!

Yea it is, I would be loosing a fair bit of silver, the noah's ark coin went from 15g to about 8g.

Well I do need nice big hole to put a laser module into it :D.

I also have a 5oz noah's ark coin and a geiger 100g bar that I want drilled as well but I'm just thinking how much silver I would be loosing :(

No quite, I'm going for a "battery operated silver bullion labby (lab style) 445nm 2W laser, with TEC cooling, Three element glass lens and detraction gratings", wow thats a mouthful and its just a little bit more complicated then a pointer :)

Anyway, this is your thread, I'll just go back into the corner now

I reckon it would look awesome that half ounce in a key ring... Might just steal your idea there.

All good, happy to share ideas.

I'd just laugh if some Perth mint stooge came across this and then we see in the march release, 1/2oz colored snake proof Keyring, rrp$150 mintage only 50,000
