Im a newbie collector....and i used to have 4 round 50s until i accidentaly spent one (silly me) and is $40 for a 37' crown too much? because i got a fine one. i also got a canberra florin for 14 dollars as well....any of the prices good...its expensive to me im only like 12
So? is it against the rules? or am i too immature or if theres paedos here (i really hope not) ill leave or if ur that type of guy who says "young whippersnapper" or are u just saying that cuz im the youngest member uve seen? idk..
I think it's great that you, at your age have an interest in silver & coins, let alone an interest in pm's & economics. I wish I had a platform & reference like this site when I was 12! Edit: I don't see any age restrictions in the rules. I know of at least 1 other younger fellow on the forum but prolly more.
agreed they were selling at around spot in august last year sadly, I see they are now 15 a piece at MR Roberts, formerly one of the best deals in sydney and now "well out of my range". I won't say more, but more could be said basically, 12 is a fair price, by today's standards
Thanks STC idk how i started...mabye it was when my dad took out the pre decimal silvers and then yeah....i just started collecting..
I've just joined since I inherited my father's coin and stamp collections. Although he spent much of his money on stamps (now pretty much worthless) I find that all the used pre 46 florins, 20 balboa (go on, google it) etc are probably worth more for their precious metal content? Is it best to sell on a forum like this or on ebay? I would prefer somewhere like here to reduce fees but like all forums I know people are wary of the 'new guy'. I think I will get a bit of an invertory together and troll this forum to understand what some of these coins are worth.
Welcome to the Forum aussie105 I suggest you take photos of the coins and post them up here and we will go from there
I have just started in the coin world and I have to agree with the SS here that rounds are a safe way to start. I know what I am looking for and I know the price they are worth. In saying that at the height of silvers value before the recent creash I sold 45 rounds on ebay for just over $18. I was thrilled when the went to $15, but gobsmacked at $18. I figured that people could see real value in the future of silver, what are peoples thoughts about the future value of silver and its direction now? will rounds sell for $18 again? Regards Mattlyndy
They're already selling on eBay for $15+ each - $18 is more than plausible when the spot price increases.
It's all our fault, you all know that right. Once we started stacking round 50's SilverStackers had the market cornered wich therefore forced a premium. Pretty cool huh.
Rather bring this topic up than start another... But what's everyones thoughts on how much 50s are worth currently? I'm looking to trade a few for some 10oz bars hopefully, kind of trying to find a rough conversion.
Spot price /3 - these are the ultimate barter coin = great fractional silver obtainable in quantity with neither party being that concerned about there condition as they are so so common in uncirculated condition. 1for1
The rounds seem to continually get a premium over spot on ebay, but not so much here, they are well recognisable, much easier to trade in different amounts. Much more flexable. $12.50 at least.
